In the states that they film in, "Trying to seduce a minor over the internet" is a crime. "Attempting to and/or send(ing) sexual and/or vulgar images to a minor over the internet" is also a crime. So, as far it's reality goes, even though they never "pedo"'ed, a crime was committed.

You must understand, set-up or not these men agree to meeting with a underage individual for 99% of the time, sexual relations. Under no circumstances is it the faults of those who are involved in the process of catching the child-molester. All of those who are caught on the TV show are willing to drive hundreds of miles, and multiple hours to see and have a sexual encounter with the underage child they have meet on the internet. It is not the fault of those who set up these captures, it is only the fault of the individual who agrees.

 

Well, it's a little off-topic, but just because the kid is underage, doesn't mean the pictures will scare them for life.

If you read what they say they dont really lead them on that much, also some of them drive like 2 hours to see them, so that is putting in quite the effort to see the girls.

It doesn't matter how mature the minor is. By law, he/she IS a minor, and it's against the law to try to seduce one over the internet, among other things.

I'm just trying to say your analogies are not making much sense. What I am trying to prove is that sometimes people are not guilty but they get punished for a crime anyway.

You act as if laws are 100% right and just. You realize 60 years ago we had a law that said separate but equal was ok? And then later we realized that law is fucked up and abolished it? What makes you so sure that the same wont happen to the laws you abide to right now?

 

Obviously this is right, as it would be saving a poor teenage girl/boy from who knows what might happen. I love the show, and when Chris Hansen comes out and is like, "What are you doing here."

 

You see, I think its wrong. Because a regular e-pedophile probably wouldnt go to a girls house, unless he was told the address, and pretty much assured sex. Which is exactly what they do. A normal teenage girl wouldn't do that.

 

Yes it does. The only reason it is a law because he is a minor, is because everyone assumes that once you hit the age of 18, you are mature, and know what you're doing. If a 14 year old invites 40 year old men to fuck and bring alcohol, they know what they're doing.

It's only a law because you supposedly taking advantage of them. When clearly, some cases are not like that.

The only thing they are preventing is a possible rape. And I doubt EVERY person there is a rapist.

We also had a law that justified the age of sex at ten years old.

I guess these people are saying it's okay to do what is illegal (being a minor and giving the address) as long as they are over 18. So if I am over 18, following Arya's logic, I will have the right to pretend I am a leader of Al Qaeda and carry out terrorist operations as long as I pretend to.

 

They have yet to commit a crime, they only agree to it.

Doing and saying are two totally different things, so no the show is messed up. It has good intentions, but it lacks them doing something.

 

Erm, sex with a minor is still against the law, even if it's consensual.
