Drugs are being done, if they were legal they would be done just as much, so why make it so you have to go through the pain to hide it? Because they are not socially accepted. You are free to do drugs, but not if the government finds out. Maybe it's fine that they illegalized drugs, but infringing on people's personal rights to prosecute them for drugs is getting out of hand.

You're sorely basing you're opinions on familys with parents and people who have guidlines.
Do you know how many people have the image in their head that; If something is legal - then it can't be 'that' bad for you.
I always tell my mates to stop smoking, they reply: "who gives a fuck dude, its legal".

Either way you can't base prohibition on everyone.

But what outweights the other actually? Addictive drugs can also obstruct your freedom, sometimes even more than the government can, so sometimes it's a matter of choice which "freedom" is more important.

I'm not saying the governments are right by banning drugs, but you can understand why certain drugs are illegal.

Well i agree that some drugs should be regulated such as LSD, mushrooms and marijuana.

But others such as meth, cocaine and heroine cause major problems in society and have such an addivtive potential that they should be illicit.

i would have a good argument for regulating cocaine however even with its danger: it fuels the drug war in Mexico that has costed billions and killed thousands, and its all us American's fault for buying cocaine.

So dont do coke, but happy tripping

Well if you are that stupid to take a drug without doing any research and solely because it is "legal," then I'm sorry but you deserve the full blown effects of that drug and I would be happy when natural selection kicks in and you are gone from the gene pool.

This is exactly how the early man experimented with things in the stone age, there wasn't internet and there weren't any books for him to read, so he just tried it whatever he wanted to do and saw what happened. The problem today is, people have already tried these things and recorded everything about them. So if you completely ignore this information that is easily accessible to you, then you are pretty ignorant and basically don't care if you ruin your life through drugs.

I don't know why you care so much about these people. All your doing by protecting people from their own stupidity is making them even more stupid.

Well, since someone chooses to take a drug, then basically they are obstructing their own freedom. And if they do it without researching the drug's effects, then they are obstructing their own freedom through their ignorance. So I say let them do what they want to do but they will find out the hard way and will probably be more careful when they leave rehab.

The total legalization of all would have horrific outcomes the total productivity of the country would drop significantly. For example my uncle owns a factory in Newark, where he employs mostly uneducated workers to do manual work. One day a worker came in high and got two of his fingers cut off, so my uncle had to pay $5,000 for medical bills from him injurying himself on the job. My uncle has already fired 7 people from coming into work high or drunk. If drugs were legalized people would think it was okay to come into work high.

The is little benefit for legalizing all drugs. The role of government is to protect us and keep order, if all drugs were legalized their would be chaos. Many drugs are MIND ALTERING and you don't know what your doing when you are on them. The government is protecting us and others by keeping drugs illegal.

Actually, I think that this is a quite valid point. Although the one of the drugs controlling your mind enough to restrict freedom is aswell.

I would say that they should class drugs on your ability to control your mind after taking them. Things like cocaine and cannabis do not control your mind to the extent that you actually have no control, while hallucogenics do have the effect of little to no mind control, and therefore would be illegal.

    Just my opinion of course.

Alcohol is legal and socially accepted, and how many people do you have coming to work drunk?

    Benefits:
-taxes from the drugs would get our government out of debt
-gangs would lose a source of income and lose power
-it would be harder for younger people to get drugs since there wont be dealers who sell to anyone any age
-we wont have to pay for people in jail who are labeled as criminals because of these laws

There was a time when all drugs were legalized, and for some reason we didn't all kill each other back then?

And that sentence about drugs being mind altering, sounds kinda like alcohol doesn't it? If you know anything about drugs, most are harmless and you feel peaceful when you're on them. Alcohol is one of the only drugs that brings out anger. Please do more research and stop being so biased.

I agree with you, if people want to rot their brains, then let them.
