Hip Hop/Lyrics Tutorial

Many people think writing lyrics is "easy"
but im pretty sure they dont know the detail
in this tutorial i will teach you basic things you can do to make rhymes better and more structured

Metas: Metaphors EX.
Raping bars like a pedophile

Showing everything like girls gone wild

Metaphors are underlying messages, or comparisons (both could be qualified in hip hop as Metas)
Metas are very crucial in a 16 bar+ piece as you need to show some skill, and most talented rappers can show this

Multies: Multiple rhymes

Instead of

Cat/hat

it would be

White child/ Strike wild

or

Never go back/ Forever known past

Multies are multiple rhymes in a sequence
Try to keep multies above 3 sylables and under 6 sylables or they will not flow right

Slant rhymes

not every word has a PERFECT rhyme, so if it sounds like itll work, try it
slant rhymes can make or break your piece, so try to be careful

Ex.
telephone/Go home

Bar length
Try to keep bars above 10 syllables and under 17 syllables
nuff said

Bar consistancy
try to keep the messages the same and the length the same

dont talk about killing babies and then rainbows

and try to keep it

Complexity: Dont be lame
Words arn't defined by definitions in music
they are defined by the way you install them
its like this:
Dont use words that a first grader would know to rhyme
Try to use words that you had to spend time to learn and your proud to know them
noone likes to hear the same stuff (and to be honest, it gets to the point where you can guess what the next rhyme is before you finish the bar)

Prominant and secondary words: Learn!
Prominant - Words that are important to rhyme
Secondary - Words you can ignore in a rhyme
Normally used in multies the thing about this is, it tells you that
You dont even NEED to rhyme words like: of, and, or, is, to, it ect.
Because they really dont matter...
So if your going to rhyme:
The man was sitting on a bench with a pad and pen
Youd just rhyme pad/pen

So itd be:
The man was sitting on a bench with a pad and pen
He decided to write lyrics of slutty wemon and sad men

yeah, normally i wouldnt because its pretty basic knowledge
but people on here look like they could make it somewhere with a little bit of work

the tutorial its self is ok and average but how come in the rap sections im sorry but ur lyrics wernt very good =/ but this make it seem u cud write alot better

i did this tutorial quick so that i could see people here improve not to sound "Smart" or anything
