I quite agree he isn't real rap ..... didn't I say I thought that alredy?

    I don't think he's pop either.

He fills the ground for the people who don't wanna listen to Britney style pop and those that don't wanna listen to tupac style rap. He combines the two, and gets members of both audiences.

And saying someone could beat him in a rap battle is fine, as he is not really doing rap. He has charisma, though.

Hahaha, give him respect!? For what? He doesn't even make good rap. Rap started to suck as the new millennium came around and possibly even before that, good rap died with Tupac and Biggie. The "rap" thats around now-a-days shouldn't even be considered rap. Its a parody of what it used to be, the put in a "good beat" and then put ridiculous, childish lyrics to it. And you expect us to give him respect?

As MegaMatt stated, he is only on the top of the charts because today people have a low standard of quality music. Which is very unfortunate in my opinion.

Thats only because the song is so damn popular and the dance is easy. The dance, makes you look like you are kinda hoppin' around having a seizure to tell you the truth. Its not even a good dance.

I don't get what you mean here, but both Rap and Screamo suck ass.

I can do the same thing, I have been making music right where I am sitting since I have been I have been 13. Check out the CyberGrind band, Lake Of Anal Mucus. Its really not hard to make your own music, my friend and I actually wanted to see how easy it was to make a rap song and we made one in like a day or so and had our friends over hear dancing to it XD. Its really not that tough at all.

I have listened to it, seeing as a lot of my friends love Soulja Boy and shitty "rap". Its awful.

You know what, he did have that initial hit. Every rapper now-a-days has only one hit and then they are gone. He does not deserve any respect. Rappers that deserve respect are ones that will last a long time, that will have more than just one big hit. Soulja Boy, deserves no respect at all. He has had one hit and he is still going to try to get other hits but it won't happen. He will disappear in the next year or two like all new age rappers. Whatever happened to Hurricane Chris, Chingy, or the East Side Boys? They all had their one hit and disappeared, the only one who lasted out of the East Side Boys was Lil Jon because he has a crazy voice and can actually kinda make rap sound good. Now he is one who deserves respect because he as been around for a while and is still making some hits at times.

Soulja Boy deserves absolutely no respect. Case closed.

He had a big hit back in 2k7 with Soulja Boy

    2008-Early 2009 it Was KMTTF

2009 Turn my Swag on - I don't like this one at all, but it still tops the charts

He produces hits on a regular basis.

People love to listen to his songs, so he must be doing somethring right. Maybe people don't want to have music they have to study for hours to figure out what it means.

The Scarlet letter, one of the most detailed and one of the books that requires the most studying to grasp TOPS THE LIST AS AS THE WORST BOOK OF ALL TIME. I quite agree with that.

However, simple books about real life that you can get the first time you look at it have never been more popular.

Maybe he is ahead of the new wave?

All i know that if we are travelling in a school car somewhere for a school activity, even some teachers turn up the radio when SB comes on. He must be doing something right, to span two generations.

No, that just means that your teachers are probably in their 20's or 30's and grew up in the age that we are in today. Generation is like me and my parents, My parents were born in the 50's, I was born in the 90's.

Plus, Your teachers have an awful taste in music then. Now a days, everything is shit on the radio. I refuse to listen to it even if my band was on it last week XD.

For rap radio, alot of the songs aren't "Radio appropriate" so most of the good ones don't air. Only like the best of the best or just club songs actually get to it. Or songs that they'd think to get them listeners.

Not sure about rock songs and shit and how that goes.

Do you honestly think those teachers go home and listen to Soulja Boy? I highly doubt it.

He has it on his ipod ...... so take it how you want.

I'm sure a former minor league pitcher needs to use SB to seem cool for the kids.

My first response to this thread is this:
    AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Soulja boy is everything wrong in the music industry, it is people like him that have caused the downfall of music as it is. You say he must be talented for getting to the top of the charts? You do realize those charts now are practically controlled by the tone-deaf dipshit teenagers with no true sense of music and just follow the latest trends, you know that right?

Congratulations, and if I went into a crowded public place and started playing this, I could probably get about everyone to start to dance, or this and get at least 1 person to dance and scream along. Your theory is stupidity.

Depends on where you live, and the people you are around, the main city where I live, would tell you to turn off soulja boy or have the shit kicked out of you, yet would praise you for playing a good rock song, a good metal song, etc. You're pitting two opposites against each other, the shit that soulja boy vomits from his mouth is not rap, it is not music, and relies on computer-generated tunes, I don't like rap in any form, but I do respect those rappers who do not rely on a computer and instead use an actual band with them.

What relevance does that have? You don't need to have a hit song to be a critic of one. Plenty of artists these days write songs young, the difference is, his isn't a song, it's vomiting words about ejaculating onto a whore's back and sticking a sheet to it so it dries like a cape...

I'll revert back to my first message: "You say he must be talented for getting to the top of the charts? You do realize those charts now are practically controlled by the tone-deaf dipshit teenagers with no true sense of music and just follow the latest trends, you know that right? "

When I was at school last year, and someone would play that shit, I whipped out my phone and hooked up my mini speakers, and blasted this song(Note that I do not actually think this is really music either, however, the band plays more music then soulja boy) until it was turned off... they quickly learned not to play it within earshot.

Once you mix genres such as rock and rap, it is no longer rock and rap, it is simply crap.

Yes, he has the marketing, but that's the problem, his marketing outweighs his musical abilities, hence the hatred.

No, so they listen to a "song" they can figure out from 1 line, since that's all it is, a line or two on repeat.

So you don't suppose that he may be doing this for the benefit of the students and not himself? you dumb twat.

here is a club remix of a great melodic metal song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxQrlxRAqRk It is one of VERY FEW genre mashups that sounds decent

I hate rap, and it makes me sick to my stomach that my dumbass friends buy into this crap. Music is an industry, and it's marketed straight towards the vaginas of every teenager. But music is the way it is, just listen to what you like... but be aware of what your music says about you.

Everyone has everything wrong, you have to respect all music, even if it's not in your interest. Ya he may piss you off and maybe people have "low standards" But hey who gives a fuck? people like to have fun and enjoy the music that interests them. Everyone has different interests and taste in music. I've heard his music, don't really like it, but am i gonna make a big deal about it and diss the guy? No... i'm just gonna move on and listen to my shit.

Yeah tbh music is music and there's close to nothing that we can do to change it. If you like it, listen to it, but music is one of the things that people WILL judge your character and personality with.

If someone got mini speaks to blast a song when I played soulja boy, I would just bring bigger speakers. No mini speaker sets for me, my "mini speakers" have combined 400W of power and a kick ass subwoofer. All under 5 pounds.
