New Jagex Ant-Hijack System [Uh-oh]

Jagex posts that this protects your account from any keyloggers hackers or you just simply giving your password out. Does this mean if somebody on sythe scams you and they put one of those things on there they have the account for good? If so i think this is a very large ouch! Post any touch ups or opinions to what im saying because i know damn sure if im right we will have a problem

Step 1) Borrow / Steal an account.
Step 2) Put one of those things on the account.
Step 3) Own the account forevar?//

 

I personaly think this will be some sort of membership, so you will have to buy it every month so I doubt many can afford.

 

this is good, own those stupid ass nerds out there that hack/scam/hijack or whatever, because they are too freaking lazy to get their own damn accounts.

Seems like the only real solution to this is to buy one for your account asap, I doubt they'd let you have two of the key-chain things.

Personally, I doubt alot of people would pay the 5-10$ to get the key, unless the account was really worth it.

I'm not quite sure how these things will work. Do you just insert them into a USB port and go to runescape, and they get the code to verify it's you, or do you have to manually put in the code that's given?
Wouldn't it suck to bot on an account, then order one of these, only to be banned when it arrives? Hah, gf $ and account

@-MP, No, it's not. It's a physical "key", similar to a USB stick, that you can put on a key ring, etc.

 

This is just another way for them to make money.

If I was buying an account off sythe for any price above $40, I'd definitely buy one of those keys.
Whats an extra 5-$10 to insure that you won't get scammed?

 

i think its a good idea if you buy one. but if you dont have one, like you said, someone else can buy it for the account =(

 

Good as long as there's a way of telling if the account has a key out or not. So, let's say Sythe User A is buying an Account from Sythe User B. If User B's account already has a key for it, then Player A would know not to buy the account. If not, the trade will play out smoothly.

After the trade is over, Player A would just buy a key for the account, and the trade will be successful.

 

It won't really last, they'll find a way to copy and emulate it..

This will be VERY good for account sales.
Then you wouldn't have to worry about the account seller recovering their account, which happens 9/10 of the time here.

BUT what if the account someone sold to ya ALREADY had a key?

 

Agreed but if its a number PIN code you will know because I for one have not bought an acc with numbers. Also another question is it going to be a USB slot key?

 

I'm all for it to be honest, it just means there being hypocritical with the fact that they know people buy and trade accounts and so they want to join in.

you are right, this is just another way for jagex to earn money, key can not insure your account is 100% secure, I think people who recover stolen password can still get it back!

 

Not really you willl probably need to insert the USB thing to recover too, soo i don't see that working.

 

Which is another thing.. you lose it / accidently wipe it / get it stolen / throw it away / etc..

I can't see this taking off. especially on the hardware side. They should do something like blizzard did with the ipod.

as for what it probably is now, an encrypted file with your character id and a unique variable according to time/date. if it's just on a usb, it could be copied digitally.
