    CRT vs LCD

Which do you prefer? I always thought I liked LCD, as it was what I used for the most part. But I recently picked up an old CRT (Those old huge ones) and hooked it up, and it was running 1200p just fine. Even a high enough refresh rate for Nvidia 3D. Not to mention the availability/cheapness of them. LCDs are expensive, have lower refresh rates (mostly) and many wont even do 1080p. But, they sure are pretty. Prove me wrong, K?

I think he means LCD computer screen.

I prefer LCD. The CRT is big, ugly and the colors are not really nice. ;)

    CRT is oldschool.

LCD is the new age, gotta keep up ;).

Plus, who has desktop computers nowadays lol.

I hook up my LCD to my Laptop.

I do the same thing with my laptop.

How old it is isnt the point, its that almost every quality of it is better, by a long shot, exept for aesthetics.

CRT's were cool for a while.
Then LCD's killed the market plus most new computer moniters you can use with gaming units.
I just use my 32" tv in my room for a moniter, and it's LCD and I love it.

I have a 14.1 inch lappy with an old 17 inch Dell CRT.

Mainly use it as my movie screen while playin RS/browsing on the lappy screen. <3 my CRT. Only problem is the glass has marks on it, scratches, clear coat/films come off a bit, so if you really pay attention you can see the image is "behind" the glass slate by a fair bit.

What about TFT (Thin Film Transistor) or Plasma?

CRT and LCD aren't the only types.

I know, Swan. I figuured just saying LCD would be easier, its the most common/most well known. Alot of people wouldn't know what a TFT monitor is.

depends on what you are using for, if you are a hardcore fps gamer... I would use a CRT, or new LCDs

Basically CRTs are better than OLD LCDs which runs at around 65 hertz, when CRT can run at 100 hertz. New LCDs can run @ 120 hertz which is good enough for any gamers :).

    CRT vs LCD

Well, I haven't seen much TFT besides in odd science magazines.

Plasma has great picture quality, but it just doesn't compete with LCD power consumption, longevity, and price. I don't even know why CRT are in this thread, they aren't even on the same level of technology as LCD's are. This is like trying to compare a nintendo 64 to xbox 360.

My friend has a TFT monitor and I like it better than LCD, I can't really say why I just do.

Edit: If you're comparing a Nintendo 64 to an Xbox 360, then I can honestly say that the Nintendo wins.

I have a desktop. I can honestly say for anything other than mobile use, a laptop is an extremely big annoyance.
