Most people don't want to pay $5.00 for membership or $7.00 for a OMM, much less $10.00-20.00 for a key.

    1. No OMM required. Since a key would be involved, there would be no need.

    2. If I'm paying $400-600 for an account, a little failsafe would be preferable.

    That would be hilarious. :D

I fully support this idea. Scam free account trading!

    ...

And the possibility of people physically stealing each other's accounts? :O

I don't think everybody understands exactly what this does.

you will not be able to log into somebody account with this only. You will still need a password.

It is not a flash drive. it is not usb. Its a device that generates strings of numbers that match numbers generated by the log in system. Number strings are only active for a short time before they change so the person that physically has the device must push the button to see the current string and input their user name, password, and secure login number. That's how securid does it, but there are other ways.

Couldnt the account seller just purchase one right before he/she sold his/her account?

and what if you got hacked and the hacker bought one.

Like I said before, the buyer would HAVE to receive one, with no exceptions. Even if the seller didn't have one, he would be required to buy one to include in the sale.

Basically, it's going to be like a car sale. Of course, you have to include the key, or the previous owner would just come back and get it. See?

Idea for suggestion: (i know jagex is watching)

Have the person recover the account with(that means including the normal recover page for forgot/stolen password) (if membership) the credit card number membership bought with and your I.P. Address and Location at the time, and if F2P the same thing without the credit card number.

    Ideas?

im highly sure Jagex wont just make some secuirty stick cuz they no people like us who do RWT and account will do so, so they will have some type of encryption code or something so lets not have our expectation to high... as im SURE they will have some "gift" for us. lol

You guys aren't very smart, saying someone might load a security key with a virus?
You don't plug the security stick into your computer, it's like a little keychain thing.
Also, no a scammer couldn't say there wasn't one on the account and then there really is.. because when you log in to RuneScape you have to put in the security key before you can even log in or attempt to recover the account.

Also, they didn't steal it from Blizzard.
Banks created it for online banking and WoW got the idea from banks.

I like it because it keeps my accounts safe (the ones I don't plan on selling) and the accounts I am selling secure for the buyer.

    I support.

I hope there is a mechanism to tell if an account owns a security key, to prevent buyers from getting scammed.
