Ps3 red light of death?

Ok so about 1 year and 3 months ago I bought my ps3. About a month ago, I Turned my ps3 on to play some tekken 5. I play for about 15 minutes, when the screen of the game freezes up for a sec, then the ps3 beeps, and cuts off. I notice as this happens, that my ps3 power light turned yellow, then continued blinking red until I cut off its power.

I've read around other sites about this, and all signs point to my ps3 overheating. Is the only way to fix this sending it in to sony for repairs? and question 2, Am i better off just buying another ps3?

 

Better off buying another ps3 if your impatient to wait for it to come back, and i'd say sending it to sony will cost.

A new ps3 is better than getting an old one fixed

 

Well, If i can pay 200$ to fix this one instead of paying 400$ for a new one, I will. But idk what the odds are of it just breaking again 2 months after i get it fixed.

 

Depends what you have; 40 gb, 60, or 80 gb? I had a 40 gb, and I used it alot. Then one failure of a day, I was playing CoD4 and it freezes =_=. I restarted the system and turned it back on, and it didn't read the game's disc. Turns out I burnt the laser that reads the disc.

Basically, GET An 80 GB. I have one now, and it's wonderful. It will not overheat as long as it's in an open space. Plus, nothing has been burned out .
