    Is this laptop better than my current desktop?

    Hello, i recently got a summer job and I've wanted a laptop forever and soon enough i will be able to afford one and I'm wondering if it will be better\how much better than my current desktop that i have.

    Laptop Specs

    * Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6500 (2.10GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
    * Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic Edition SP1
    * 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
    * 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)

    My current desktop

    * Processor: 2.53 gigahertz Intel Celeron
    16 kilobyte primary memory cache
    256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
    Not hyper-threaded
    * Main circuit board: Board: Dell Computer Corp. 0TC666
    Serial Number: ..CN7082157L00S4.
    Bus Clock: 533 megahertz
    BIOS: Dell Computer Corporation A02 11/08/2004
    * Memory: 510 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
    Slot 'DIMM_1' has 256 MB
    Slot 'DIMM_2' has 256 MB
    *79.99 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity

    The laptop and desktop are both Dell's i got the information from my dell shopping cart and my desktop information from Belarc advisor.

    Mainly on my computer i'll have Itunes, Firefox with 5-6 tabs open, MSN messenger with 3-4 people talking to me and that's really about it. So will this laptop be better than my desktop and how much better? Thanks.

    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD is the video card on the laptop and i can't seem to find the one for my desktop. The laptop can hold 4gb of ram total i think. So i'll add 1 or 2gb more possibly.

    YES you will not regret your OS choice.

    The processor is dual core, and if it's within your budget, you might be able to get a quad core if it's allowed.

    Mind me asking how many memory slots?

    Is this laptop better than my current desktop?

    Yes it is. Nobody here gave a legit answer, or knew what they are talking about. Hardware-fag here to help. Vista doesnt slow it down as much as these people are saying. It has 2GB of RAM, which means Vista will run fine. XP would be preferrable though. Because it has a dual core, it is more powerful, also celerons are old single cores. The desktop must have DDR memory, since its 256MB, while the laptop has DDR2, much faster. Hard-drive in the laptop could be upgraded if needed. Graphics are most likely better in the laptop too, I cant say, as I dont know what kind the desktop has. Hope I helped
