Shadow Priest DPS

SOOOO... My Shadow Priest is 80.... I have mostly heroic gear, and two pieces of t7. My DPS is around 1.7k on heroics, last night I did 2.3k on Emalon.

Do you guys use any tricks to increase you DPS?

Some website I saw told me to make a macro for my main attack:

#showtooltip Skill Name
/use 13 (spell power trinket)
/use 14 (spell power trinket)
/cast Skill Name

I'll do that as soon as WoW is up again... but do ya'll know anything else?

 

Throw up your DoTS, then use something, I forget what it is, its on like a 6 second CD or something, then spam Mind Flay until it comes off CD/you need to refresh DoTs. Rinse, repeat.

 

I know my fucking rotation, thanks. And, actually, priests don't have rotation, they have priority.

I want tricks and whatnot to increase my dps, not some idiot's help who doesn't know the spell's name.

Yes you did. You assumed he was an idiot who knew less about the game that you and called him out of it because you (for some odd reason, which normal people do not do) flipped out on him and decided to cuss him out when he (once again, surprisingly) said nothing to harm you.

Chill out man, you posted asked for help on your DPS, I tried giving it. You didn't say anything about your knowledge of the class, or your rotation in your original post. And I didn't say you didn't know how to play, or that you didn't know your rotation. There isn't any reason for you to get mad at me for trying to help you. Grow up.

 

Whatever man. I can't argue with stubborn fools. Their opinions never change even if they know they are wrong. I guess it's a pride thing.

 

If you just hit 80, don't expect big numbers, people like you are people who will be bad for their entire wow career, do some research, look at WWS's or WMO's, check out different things, see dot uptimes, and when people are using certain dots, certain spells, Spriest Rotation, and yes it is considered a rotation, yes it does change, and could be considered a priority, but the point is when you first hit 80, and are in blues/greens your dps will be shit, for a good bit, I didn't start doing 8k+ dps Until I was fully naxx geared, so just slow it down, gear up, and learn your class.

Anyways, I think Priests should just stick to healing. I've never seen a good Priest at DPS, but perhaps it's your priorities that is holding you back from the DPS you can pull. I'm not certain, however, because I've never rolled an SPriest before, but currently working on it.

If it is really an issue, you should try to ask other Priests on your Server if they are Shadow Spec'd, and perhaps branch off for help from there. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to help you out, as there aren't really that many users on Sythe that play WoW, so it can be hard to find out what you need.

Also, if you really want to perfect your gear and spec, and try to get some help, try out this fantastic website that I used to use.

I'd suggest reading this if you already haven't and then starting to look at EJ.com as the above poster said - probably the best site to find out anything about your class and how to opt it.

Shadowpriests have the best AOE currently, and do reasonable single target DPS. Aside from this, they bring significant raid utility.
Misery - increases chance for all spellcasters to hit by 3%
Replenishment - increases mana regeneration significantly
Vampiric Embrace - heals the party

I was frequently in the top five overall damage for my guild (a competitive progressive raid guild) - beat only by "pure" dps classes - mages, rogue, hunter, and the currently overpowered feral druids

@ op - Cap your hit rating, be sure your spell priorities are PERFECT - your rotation needs to be flawless. Install quartz and a dot timer

I did ~5-6k dps, and upwards of 9k on bosses with multiple targets (like that crazy cat whore in Ulduar) - given this is in t8.5 and equivalent gear

I, of course, respect your guild greatly... I also think that you have to be good to good in that guild, therefore, you are good.

I'm aware that I should not be pushing 9k dps, I'm also aware that I'm not the best class for DPS (link). I know that I'm not godly geared, and I won't be for a while... but, I may have edited this out of the first post (I can't be bothered to check), but, a mage friend of mine does about 400 more dps than I do, and he doesn't even try as much as I do. I know my class quite well at the moment, there's no need to look into that. I know what spell uptimes and shit I need to make happen. Also, I'm not in any greens D: ... I bought my way out of them bad boys.

Thanks, I'll be looking into those websites... and as Jansen said, we bring great utility to a raid, Shadow priests are needed in large groups.
