    Please show me an explanation.

I must say I think this is a very poor decision from Sythe, I don't understand how it is hard to maintain, I don't understand why anyone would want to close something that rolls in free moolah. Meh, I guess you have your real reasons.

I think they seen it as not like a problem to have it open but the donations were rare so in the end, whats the point, they spend time maintaining it for nothing etc.

I'd personally like to see them back open but with paypal as an option this time would create so many more donations.

You were able to donate by PayPal by sending TJ the money, which he would then forward to Matthew as a donation made by you.

Sythe shut me down. I have yet to know the actual reason, so your guess's are as good as mine.

We tried this. For a while we took PayPal and so many people chargebacked the account was limited... Taking donations by PayPal is great because it's completely automated, however, if we get chargebacks all of our donations could be frozen and people could lose their money. Do you people see why it's risky and a pain now?

Sythe doesn't like people besides me accepting donations so he asked me to have TJ stop accepting donations.

The site isn't the hard part... it's easy to put up some pages and let people make requests. The time consuming part is adding all of the people who want to donate on MSN, talking to them, explaining all the details, getting them to agree to donate, waiting for the donation to come, trying to contact them when the donation doesn't show up, etc. etc. It's a long process for something VERY simple. If users would keep to their word and just donate what they say they when they say it, we wouldn't have this problem.

    See above.

The bottom line is complaining and blaming us for being lazy will not help anything. We have tried accepting PayPal because our members asked for it, and it didn't work. Then we left the options to use Mail or Western Union which failed horribly. First, people always chose by Mail. And, because of the reasons listed above, donations by mail rarely come through successfully...

Obviously since we're not currently accepting donations, we don't need them for the site to survive. Hopefully, in the future we will be able to accept donations again. Until then, please understand why we've made this decision and be patient while we find a new solution for donations.
