Death Knights and Ret Pallies,YOUR thoughts?

Everyone knows about them, most people hate them. Death Knights and Retribution Paladins.

Now the reason that there so well known is because of the myth that they are both the most OP classes in the game at the moment, and have been for a while now. But are they really as OP as people think?

While they are both very powerful when played well, they are by no means undefeatable, as most players think. Let's take for example a common set up, Rogue vs. Ret. Please remember this situation takes place in a 1v1 fight with no outside interference.

Most rogues wouldn't even try to kill a ret palaldin, but there is a very simple way to do it, if you just THINK about it. First, you need to try to get the first move in, get the jump on the paladin, as this will greatly help your chances of winning. After you've engaged the paladin, you first have to get them to pop one of their main cooldowns, their bubble, by any means necessary. Once they've done that, the key is to FALL BACK. You have to get away from them, and get out of combat. BUT, you can't stay away from them for to long, or Forbearance will be gone by the time you get back. After about 30 seconds, reengage them, and then you should have a MUCH easier time of beating them, provided you know how to play your class well.

This is just one of many scenarios where you can beat an "OP" class by just using your head, and exploiting there weaknesses.

Now, I want to know what YOU think about Ret Paladins and Death Knights. Do you think their OP? Or maybe even UNDER powered? Or do you think their balanced enough that people shouldn't complain as much as they do? I wanna hear any thoughts you have on the matter

Retribution Paladins too much damage

A good paladin would kill off a Death Knight any day

 

OP =/= undefeatable. Two completely different things.

 

Retribution Paladins have (arguably) the best survivability for PvP in the game. Couple that with enviable DPS and you have an OP class. Death Knights certainly aren't as OP, especially given the wave of nerfs coming in 3.2.

Death Knights aren't OP imo, people just think that because the players actually know which spells to use at what times (excluding nubs who just roll DK after they hit 55). Ret pallies are can be easily taken with rogues as long as you vanish and slice and dice effectively and evade the bubbles etc

see, Ret pallies are overpowered but lack mana, a priest mana burn as well as hunters can viper sting. they do survive well. that is indeed the case. i argue that they are pretty good, but there are classes that should have no problem if played correctly, and as for DK's. they seem over powered at earlier levels but as far as raiding, DK's are crap. PvP wise they have been doing pretty well, but they are going to be nerfed in the next patch, so lets sit back and see where they nerf them

You really think the majority of DKs are skilled players? Hell, the majority of any class are noobs.

 

Ret paladins and DKs in the hands of a player who knows how to play are ridiculously powerful. Thank god that this is rare, even at 2700 MMR 3s.

Anyone that argues otherwise is defending their horrible playing with 'my class was nerrrrrfffffed' when it was only a shift a playstyle that actually wasn't a nerf at all.

That strategy for the rogue to beat him doesn't include when he freedoms kidney, turns around and downs the rogue for nearly half of his health in one global.

Good Rets are OP.

Bad Rets are not.

 

I disagree. There are some classes that even horrible players can be good at. Ret pally is one of these classes. So is a blood DK.

And the MS Warrior used to be OP back in BC days, anyone could do it. If you remember.

I'm an experienced Rogue and i know first hand how tough it is to take down a Ret pally. Dk's were usually quite easy for me, either due to their lack of skill or to me my pure ownage, but Pallies were a pain.
Only was i was able to pull it off was stealth cheap shot get a bunch of SS's in to get 5 como points and then pop kidney shot RIGHT before cheap shot expired. Throw some more SS's then pop Killing Spree. If they were a perticualry tough Pally I would pop my other CD's like Adrenaline rush and the one which name leaves me but increases your attack speed by 20%.

The key is keeping them stunned AT ALL TIMES or they will heal and usually pwn my arse.

 

ret paladins are very op. my 62 dk has any gear you would want for one. ive pvped against retadins as unholy frost and blood and i play the class well i must add. and i loose. everytime. but now as for dks being op that is not true. i loose to holy priests constantly. along with ferals. which are also op.

 

agreed but not looking forward to the nerfs though
