Advertising: Posting or private messaging links to other sites is allowed if there is a legitimate purpose in doing so that benefits Sythe users. This includes solicitation via PMs in attempt to bring/advertise your services to unwilling members. Users are not allowed to mass PM users in an attempt to gain attention or customers to your market threads. Market threads may only link to websites if business is conducted on Sythe and alternative methods of contact (Skype, AIM, etc) are given. Accounts specifically created for advertising will be banned.

Meatballz sent unsolicited pms over discord to me & a few other people in a discord i'm in.

Decided to hop into Safes' discord and let him know that somebody was spamming his invite link, the response from his managers was that it was probably for the invite competition they are running, and that they aren't doing to do anything about it.

I feel like @Safe should be responsible for this, because he is actively encouraging his community to spam unsolicited pms in other discords (by offering a financial incentive to do so). At the very least @Safe should have a rule in the competition about not allowing unsolicited pms, & should be taking action when presented with evidence. Without such rule in place it turns into effectively paying people to advertise on your behalf to avoid punishment.

As for safe goes, he is abusing the fact that other people are breaking the rules for him. Most other discord servers have gotten to where they are without using unfair market advantages like pay users to break rules on their behalf.

 

You've shown one specific message from one specific individual, how am I supposed to just ban someone and ASSUME they're spamming specifically in your server?
I have no idea who meatballz is. He's not someone that works for me nor do I have any connection with him whatsoever.
If Sythe determines I should ban him from my server, I will; but I can't see why I should ban some random user from my discord because he sent an invite to you (or whomever that screenshot is for).
If you can prove he was spamming, or that there's anything malicious, please do. Otherwise, stop wasting everyones time.

 

I provided your staff member with the same screenshot as shown, he clearly was advertising your discord on your behalf.
If you would like I can provide chatlogs showing I banned him from my server, and as you can see in the screenshot the only mutual server was your own (that I wasnt in at the time)

atleast in my opinion you running a competition for people to invite others is fine, but if you allow people to spam servers with unsolicited pms, you are effectively paying that person to advertise for you in a way that isnt allowed on sythe.org.

its quite clear from my interaction with your staff members that you are perfectly fine with reaping the rewards from a member blatantly breaking sythe rules on behalf of yourself.

 

Right, but you've shown that he invited ONE person. Show me that he was "spamming" and this is another conversation.

I'm not paying anyone to spam servers, whomever Meatballz is, decided to send an invite to someone. That's literally all you've shown. I'm not going to action against him because you showed me a picture of some dude inviting you to my server. For all I know he simply just invited the last few people he added or something.

I'm happy to post the ticket logs. The first thing I said to you was that if Sythe mods think I should, or if there's any malicious activity happening, I'll happily ban the dude.

Another person has contacted me claiming that meatballz has done the same to their server.

I would have been more then ok with you saying "hey we will let him know its not allowed and will dq him from the competition if it happens again." Your staff basically refused to take any kind of action to stop him.

I never had meatballz added, and the only reason he was able to pm me was because my server was a mutual server. its also clear in the first screenshot that I had never contacted him or messaged him in the past.

I guess there isnt all that much left for us to discuss as there is a clear disagreement here where you think its ok to offer a financial incentive to people to break sythe's rules on your behalf. I will await a reponse from the mods.


quick summary why i dont think its ok;

- You are paying meatballz to break rules by offering a reward to whoever invites the most people; this gives people a reason to break sythe rules.
- You are benefiting from people like meatballz breaking sythe rules, in the form of getting more potential customers.
- You were given evidence that somebody was breaking sythe's rules for you, in exchange for a payment (or opportunity of a payment) that you provided. You then decided that its fine, and you would rather him continue breaking sythe's rules to continue benefiting from him breaking said rules. (at least until a sythe mod specifically says it isn't allowed)

First of all, you've still yet to provide any evidence the guy was spamming anyone. One invite does not equate to spamming. What you've shown could be explained in many ways.
Secondly, saying "another person contacted me" is irrelevant unless you intend to give myself and Sythe mods the proof of that.
Third, I am not paying meatballz anything. I also do not have an award for whomever invites the most people, it's a simple giveaway that requires you have at least two invites. I am not encouraging anyone to spam.
Fourth, I haven't asked meatballz to do anything, I can gladly screenshare my discord with any mod, as will @Safe if requested.

You haven't shown proof of anyone breaking Sythe rules, nor have you any evidence.

Stop wasting my time with these replies unless you're going to add something relevant.

 

first, multiple people have already come forward after this report claiming that they too were spammed by him, mods have their names and are free to contact them.

second as I have explained multiple times, you dont have to directly tell meatballz "I will pay you X to advertise my server to people"
you saying to your server "if you invite X amount of people you have a chance to win $Y, you are effectively paying each person on average $Y / (# of people entering * X) per invite. This is even worse when you dont disallow people from breaking sythe rules in order to achieve the entry. In this specific case we can tell meatballz is a real person, but what's to stop you from creating 100 new alts and spamming discord servers, then claiming they are people entering your giveaway.

 

For the record, when I woke up this morning, I decided to check if the dude was indeed "spamming"



If a dude that has 3 invites is somehow considered "spamming", then just about every Runescape-related discord out there is breaking Sythe rules as well.
