Yahoo! would. My host would. (And it's $20 a month for my host.) How do I know that? I have hosted with them both and when my site was DDoS'ed one day, my host simply moved me from a shared host to a VPS. To this day, I am still on a VPS. I payed no more for the VPS than I did the shared host.

It doesn't matter anyways, like I said, there are always better hosts.

110mb, the free host, has the same thing. I don't suppose it would cost too much more to have the same network?

You have to realize that it is impossible to stop a DDoS or Botnet attack 100%, mostly because all an attack is, is a bunch of computers connecting to the site at the same time ... like 1,000 computers, all sending data to this server, not just opening the site, its probably the equivalent of about 50 tabs per computer.

Now, if Sythe wanted too, he could put a limit on the # of packers one certain IP can send in a given amount of time, but that would conflict with tabbed browsing... I do not know about you, but when I'm browsing Sythe.org, I like to scroll down and mouse3 click on all the new topics (which opens them in a new tab. By limiting the packet maximum, he could stop DDoS attacks... and note his HOST has to do this for him, which would end up with the HOST calling the INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER and having THEM put a filter on his connection. The problem with this is, if people like to open a lot of tabs, their IP might get blocked from accessing the site due to the # of packets they send... So here's it broken down:

Sythe can stop DDoS attacks, but it would make it so its harder to browse the site, as people would not be able to open more than 3-5 tabs without getting blocked. So you have to balance the anti-ddos scripts with the user browsability (L at my new word.) and sythe has done a very good job with it.

Now, also the site goes down if a mod performs an IP look up, as it is alot of accounts and ip addresses to look through. The only way to fix this would be a mass-purge of the site, which in the end, would end up in thousands and thousands of accounts getting deleted, thousands of threads lost... which would ultimately take away from the revenue from the site (which helps pay for the hosting.) because those things that were deleted would no longer show up on google, etc.

    Hope this helped...
