Should online gambling be banned in USA?

    Yes or No? And why?
I think you would already know my answer.

Here's a link to the article:

    http://www.startribune.com/local/43985257.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUs

This is not just for Minnesota, this could be happening in any state. For this question, we assume all of the United States.

This quote from the article gets me:

However, Willems said, that Minnesota doesn't have a law explicitly outlawing online wagering, but, "I don't have a law that authorizes it, so it's illegal."

I'm not really into the whole telling people what they can do with their money and time, so a no from me.

That quote you mentioned is a little funny :p. As if we need permission from the state for every action we want to make.

Should online gambling be banned in USA?

Exactly. I'm sure they justify it by telling themselves it saves families and whatnot. All it would really do is add another thing to the list that people are not allowed to do, all in the name of the "greater good".

With the economy the way it is, gambling won't become illegal. With regard to your specific question, I personally do not think it should be banished. Why limit how people spend their money?

Like Finn said, the state should have no interference in the matter, so it's a no from me as well.

I'm from Norway, here the state have a monopoly on gambling, with lotteries and such. All other gambling is illegal. If USA outlawed online gambling I would have to find another country to send money to when I play poker.

casinos follow strict rules set by AGA, while online sites do not. they did a thing on 60 minutes about online gambling, they found out a person working for them, was able to find out every ones cards, and always won. also how do you know your playing with actual people, sites could make it seem like you have the better hand, but once you bet all your money, the site could just make a computer have the best hand losing all your money when no real money has been betted against you.

Well if they say that you are playing against real people, and you are not, that's fraud.
I'd also suspect a company which cheats it's customers wouldn't last long.

Should online gambling be banned in USA?

    True.

And the government outlawing online gambling is just absurd. It could make rules and regulations for online gambling sites to follow by, like everything being fair and whatnot, but outlawing online gambling is one of the dumbest things I've heard.

I think it should be limited, so people arn't wasting a lot of money on it. It's fine if you're good at it but there's a lot of people out there who just make a living off addicted people.

Hmm, well I think it shouldn't be banned. Even if it is, people are going to find other ways to gamble... "OMG, bet you 50 bucks that I can climb this tree!"

It provides a new form of entertainment, and a new industry also.

These people also need to learn how to use their money wisely.. so sometimes losing their wallets isn't always a bad thing. Need to be smacked in the face a bit and grab a hold of themselves.

It doesn't matter. They should be able to do whatever they want with their lives, and with their money.

It isn't anyone's place to limit what a person can, and cannot do with their own personal property (money). If a person is addicted to something, and they wish to stop, then it would be in their best interest to seek counseling. It is not a responsibility of a company, or anyone for that matter, to make sure people handle their lives responsibly.
