I JUST GOT INSTA BANNED IN 30 SECS AFTER BUYING 900M

There really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when and how they choose to ban. I’ve been banned on a 2K max main before for trading 300M. On the flip side, I have traded bills from a level 80 with no issues. Buying 900M on an account you never buy from is uncharacteristic and probably triggered some sort of manual review which got you banned.

That or the seller is flagged and they’re just banning the people he sells to.

makes no sense for the seller to be flagged and not banned when a seller generally faces a harsher punishment for selling, than a buyer does when buying gold

 

Had you been flagged/warned before? might have been keeping an eye on your IP

This is really interesting actually. I think based on this information here you got caught up in a staker ban crackdown. It could be due to many things like who you staked with, whether you were at the arena when they did the mass ban. Maybe they did check your account manually as it was a maxed staker acc (I'm guessing no other non staking stats or authentic gameplay), saw that you bought gold, and banned you.

The reason the goldsite's account isn't banned yet could be because they're investigating to try and ban more of his/her accounts to do more damage.

 

Was it a flat 99/99/99?

If purchased, was it perhaps trained on a tainted ip?

They've been banning quite heavily lately.

If you purchase an account it's important to play on it for a while before you trade it a high volume of gold. I'd suggest put 50 -100m and stay logged in for a day or so before you head over to the sand casino!

 

Deffo a flag on your account could have been the previous 850M you traded put it on the watchlist then the 2nd trade done you over.

 

Hmmm.... I will chime in on this a little bit because I feel like there are many misconceptions about RWT bans.

The main reason for RWT chain bans is because of the source of the gold itself, not the seller/buyer. Usually it's a game of hot potato.

So let's say a huge bot farm is churning out gold. Jagex will ban this bot farm and flag all the accounts that have been associated with this gold directly (aka 1-2 trade(s) away). And the next wave will be those associated with the hot gold directly and 1-2 trades away from them will get flagged. It's a ladder game that Jagex uses to ban accounts. They use this ladder system because it works. It's like dealing drugs IRL, law enforcement will take a petty drug dealer and use him as a stepping stone to get the bigger fish then the even-bigger fish until they reach the top. Well OSRS gold is kinda like that, but it's an inversed ladder. Instead they identify the source of this gold and go downwards to cripple the infrastructure in order to sell this gold. 99% of the time, when Jagex wants to cripple this infrastructure, they will issue a BAN on all accounts that currently are holding gold/plats and for the ones with nothing on them they will issue a FLAG.

There is literally no way to tell if they flagged your account because you are not in uncle Jags backyard and there is almost no chances of you knowing where this gold exactly came from as a buyer.

To everyone thinking anything under 2B is actually going to "flag" your account: I want to tell you that you are wrong. It has nothing to do with the amount of gold, but of the source of it. Amount only really comes into question when you trade with 10b+ trades.

Bot farmers most definitely know when mass bans will occur before they do, because they are the first to notice something strange happening (most of the time, bans).

90% of new gold generated in the OSRS market is botted. If not more. To believe anything otherwise then you're living in rainbowland. Please don't tell me staking generates gold, it does not, it's a gold sink in the game recycling the current supply of gold. At the current price of gold on the market, it is VERY unlikely to hire people and pay them 2$ an hour just to break even getting OSRS gold, because you would need to actually make money so you will need to pay them LESS than 2$ an hour.

Buying gold always poses risks, that's just how the game is man. You're doing something against Jagex rules.

I will tell you this though: the further you are away (in terms of trades/ip jumps or whatever other thing identifying you from uncle Jags) from the dirty gold, the less likely you will get banned or flagged.

For proof I will say something that almost all gold traders/vendors can relate to: you have a few accounts that are ONLY used for your own clients, and when you buy/obtain gold from your source, you use another set of accounts. You then start noticing that the ones you use to buy/obtain gold from your source get banned much quicker than the accounts you use to sell to your own customers.

Why do you think bot farms don't sell gold directly to retail customers? Because they would have no more customers, everyone would be banned. They need quite a few people in between to dilute the "dirtiness" of the gold.

I'm not saying it is anyone's fault, both buyer and seller can have flagged accounts and its just unfortunate. And not enough is actually known on this subject, and the people who do know don't want to talk about it, I mean I didn't even want to waste my time writing this at all. I might even catch some hate from people because of this, but oh well.

And to add to what @Liam said, it's just way too easy to follow gold sellers in the current state of this market. Buy 50-200m from them and you can just see all their customers for the whole day and blanket ban them. Hey if uncle Jags can't stop you from creating new accounts and constantly being a pest against their rules, they can just hit your client base and there goes your reputation.

PS: This is by no means a guideline on how to practice safe trading or how to avoid bans or flags, this is only written by me from my own experiences and testing. I have lost alot due to bans and flags and it is a very important part of my business structure too, so I do my best to understand how it works.

PS2: Take this in any context you will, but most bot farm operators simply do not give a shit about who will end up with the hot potato in the end (not saying that they have to either, they do their business their own way), making it harder for both the vendors and the buyers in the gold market to trust each other. They will use a bunch of residential backconnect proxies/sock5s (or even a single IP running 100 instances) that are most probably already flagged for blackhat activity and bot with them and just get rid of the gold as fast as they can, so when the hammer falls they are already paid. That's just how the game is right now and as a a gold trader/vendor/buyer you will have no say in how they operate. The bot farms do not care about where this gold goes, who gets banned, only that they are paid. Same can be said for people paying others using bought gold. If you owe someone 500M and you bought it and he gets banned, would you be liable? See where this is getting foggy?
