Unbuntu Any Good

So im thinking about having dual boot and is it worth it like how many applications are there for it and do i need to partition my HD into two drives?

Ubuntu is really cool, customizable and much more.

 

You shouldn't dual boot. Ubuntu has applications just like Windows except they are free. You can get Windows versions of Ubuntu applications as well. The only thing that Ubuntu lacks is the support for Wireless drivers on desktops.

 

how much ram shuld i need

 

Ubuntu says you should have a min of half a gig of ram, If it has less I recommend going with Xubuntu it is basicly the same thing except it uses kde instead and its way less on requirements its requirments are 128 mb so yeah pick one XD

 

Ubuntu start like running well at 384 MB of ram

 

Not from my experience, but anyway if it is under half a gig I would recommend Xubuntu same packages and everything just runs faster on lower end systems

 

Great, I recommend Ubuntu to anyone. It's not that hard to use, you just need to get use to some new systems, like there is no executable files with the .exe ext for Ubuntu, they use Package Files. Other than that, you're fine. Photoshop can be installed using Wine, as well as some other programs that are Windows exclusive.

 

Is it worth partitioning my HD?

 

Ubuntu is fun.

 

Ubuntu is really good os. and from my personal experience half gig of ram will run well but gig is preferred. Ubuntu is a really easy to use os and works well with alot of things.its very nice.

 

I also connect through a wireless adapter and i havnt found a driver for it is there a good place with alot of drivers

 

i just dont see why you would want to switch from another os ur not used to and have to learn a whole nother one.

unless you already have unpartitioned space on your hard drive, you need to redo the whole thing in most cases.

 

I use a wireless adapter on my laptop, and whenever I plugged it in it worked. Also, if you are going to dual boot you would do so by, I assume you're using Vista, but it might be similar to XP, clicking start, on the right find computer and right click it, then click manage. A window should pop up, and on the left find Disk Management which should be under Storage. Find your current partition (should be the biggest) and right click; then, click shrink, and shrink it in number of megabytes that you'd like to give to Ubuntu (I advise 20 gigs), and voila. Mount the .iso, and install Ubuntu.

 

Ive booted in live session and interent works so now im going to partitioin my hard drive and i have xp but im going to use Eausus Partition Manager Professional problem is space how much is the least but it will run good on?

 

I don't advise the least amount of space, but what I recommend is:
20-30g for a 150g HD
40-50g for anything else
I personally only have Ubuntu on my computer, so that's a terabyte
You won't be sad after the installation Ubuntu is wonderful
