Interviewing My Grandfather, What to Ask?

Interview is over, went pretty well. Thread closed please.

 

Ask him how times have changed and how different his generation was with oours today

 

Really anything about WW2 would be good. We lose so many WW2 veterans everyday; their stories and memories are usually quite amazing.

 

I think I can get alot out of ww2. I believe he served for a while so there should be some very interesting stories.

 

Ask him whether he was in combat and (if he was) who he fought with and what happened to them.

 

Ask him was it hard to live in the great depprestion

 

Ask him, what is love in his eyes.

 

If he was in the trenches alot in the war, ask him what the living conditions were like.

 

I'm supposed to keep it history related.

Well, if he fought June 6, 1994 Nomandy Landings (D-day).

That would be a good place to start, I'm guessing.

 

I was thinking that a good place to start would be birth/childhood.....

 

Well jesus, are we doing a fucking biography, or are you trying to find facts and information from his view on the war, I'm so fucking confused ._.

 

well considering the times he grew up in, his childhood is very historically relevant.

 

Trench warfare was WW1, not WW2

 

ask if he got to see the concentration camps, and what they were like, i hear they were horable, and i seen some pics, i feel bad for all the people who had to live through that.

 

Ask him how much prostitutes cost in the '30s and '40s.

 

That was primarily World War 1.

Ask about Hitler's rise to power, U.S propaganda, etc.

 

Hahaha.


Ask does he regret going into the war.

 

Ask what school was like for him.

 

Ask him what it felt like when they realized what came out of the extermination camps.
