Start saying goodbye to private servers

Yeah, well.. I'm an owner of a really large private server, some of you know which one. Anyways.. today a friend of mine linked me to this

Not my server, but I'd like some opinions on this, as I think I might be next in line. UnScape is pretty small, so I really have no idea why JaGeX bothered with them. Size wise UnScape is like.. 5 times smaller then my server.

So, anyone here want to give me some arguments for what I can say to keep my server, if I do get contacted?

This is kind of a warning for the server owners out there to watch out.. JaGeX is after us.

 

Basically, Jagex is becoming Blizzard - going crazy trying to remove all opposing competitors with their own private servers because they are "claiming" to lose money. That's why all of these people are so OD about it.

To be honest, I'm not sure if you can even counteract what they say because Copyright means any infringement will be forced to be taken down. There really isn't much you can do to oppose it. It's either you try to keep it on the low-down, or accept that they screwed you over.

 

Perhaps it's fake?

That's what I thought, but after looking over some Q&A by Mod MMG from a while ago, he seems to be strongly against private servers, so I really wouldn't doubt it.

For my own sake, I do hope its fake.

 

All you can do is just pray. Once it comes there's no stopping it. Sorry to say it man.

 

I had just got into this UnScape, a few days ago. Got like 5M phats, which is the Currency. Then i noticed it got closed down -.-

I heard it is alright to use versions 400 and below because JaGex doesnt have actualized copyrights but with 500+ its dangerous.

Also, they would probably start with development sites like with what Nexon did with MapleStory. Jagex would take down Cheat Engine's Runescape Section, Rune-Server, Rune Locus, Sythe, etc

 

Don't take them too seriously, i play on a server with a constant populaton of 30+ and jagex has come nowhere near us.

 

Well that sucks if its real. Personally, Private servers (if they are really worked on) could be a good way to see if you like member's options or not. Even though its not perfect, its cheaper then buying it.

 

I'd ask for actual verification if they contact you.
They will take so long to respond you can buy like a whole month to build a case up on why it would be fruitless to attempt a court proceeding over it, and I can help you out in some ways, though I am no legal expert, I can debate thoroughly if I can be fucked to take the time to do so.

 

exactly my though. if they dont have any verfication, could jsut be some tard fucking around with you.

We will just have to wait and hope that jagex wont try and take down all the private servers.

 

I hope you have a good lawyer. Copyright infringement's hold a huge lawsuit.

 

lol idfc wat jagex can think, i still run my 508 and they cant do a shit about it, even if i got a lawsuit, i would just put it back up later

 

Just depends on amount of people donating as they are losing money.
