Soul Wars botting gone for now?Discuss

Hey everyone, today JaGex released a Soul Wars update (http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1873), consisting of a new 'activity bar' being added onto the Soul Wars interface. Basically, this goes from green to orange and finally to red, based on how much you have participated in the game. If the bar turns completely red then you will be ejected from the game and returned to the island.

Do you think that this squashed any hope of Soul Wars botting for a long time to come? Discuss please, and we can try and gauge the likelihood of a new script being developed in order to play soul wars, evading the new system.

I personal idea of mine to avoid this issue would be that each Soul Wars script being used on a certain world would be linked up in some way to all the others. Two scripts could pair up and set their characters to go into combat with each other, therefore beating the system.

Do you have to fight players or can you have it stay green by killing monsters...(Pyrefiends, etc.)?

 

I believe that any form of activity which aids your team will keep your bar up.

 

No, I don't think the botting is gone. All people have to do is to update their scripts to do the "activity" like in pest control.

 

Yeah but the whole thing will be a lot harder to program. You have people running around who can attack you, hundreds of people wearing two different coloured capes, ancienters who will freeze players and lots of complications. I can see your point, but there is a LOT more to think about in Soul Wars than Pest Control.

As I say Louis, it is a lot harder for a script to play a game such as soul wars. There are a lot more factors to consider and a lot more can go wrong. It would probably be difficult for a script to handle SW.

 

Well, any hope of 10hp pures is gone. Because if you have to have activity, it will be moving around and attacking, when you attack you get hp xp.

all you need to do is bury bones (which DONT gain prayer xp) and you will be good......

im confused, i bot my main there, aswell as my pure, i could understand how my pure wouldn't be able to be botted, because i set him on "AFK" mode, hence he just sits there. But my main, i tell it to fight Npc's, like Jellys / whatnot, so he gets like 20k stregnth xp per hour, he's fighting a lot in the game. He could still bot, yes?

 

yes he can, the pure could too, but like 10hp pures are not available now unless there are bots that can bury bones at the place where you do.

It will be ALOT harder to script!

 

All they have to do is update the scripts. Shouldn't be that hard. We will have to wait like 3-4 days, then bam the update and we are good to go.

Sw botting isn't gone. Like I mentioned, people only have to update their scripts. As far as I know healing people, getting killed and fighting monsters counts as activity. USA's soul wars script already fights monsters, and I doubt making a script running to the enemy's spawn and getting killed would be hard. Healing teammates would be easy to program too.
