i Tried to rebuild my laptop but made a small mistake so now it runs slower

for the video card go with a 9800gtx 512mb, sound card should come on board with your motherboard, processor if you only have a bit of money then get a dual core but its better to invest a bit more and go for a quad core, hard drive go with either a 500gb or 750gb min for hdd space, fans go with whatever silent fans you can fit in your case , as for memory you should invest in good quality ddr3 ram don't get cheap on ram as it can slow the system down majorly.

remember the computer is only as fast as the slowest part.

 

okay so you want a budget build that's good.. First get rid of that Intel Board as intel CPU's are NOT budget at all... you need AMD my friend. Any normal sized ATX board that's $50-$100 on newegg will do but remember to have a socket am2 board.. (not lga 775) My recommendation would be a... evga 730a about $90 but it's a quality board

Then get a AMD athlon 7750 cpu on newegg imo its the perfect processor for budget+performance ( $60 on newegg) Stock fan is good enough on this thing

Antec 900 case is good and it'd have enough fans so you don't have to buy anymore.

For a GPU (video card) I'd either get a 9800GT or.. if you're willing a 9800GTX+. 9800GT is about $130 on newegg.

Hard drive that's completely up to you I don't know how much space you use but to keep the prices good i'd get a 7200RPM hard drive because the 10000RPM are nothing cheap at all.. A 500GB 7200RPM HD is roughly about $60

RAM go with the G.skill 4GB ddr2 800 on newegg only bout 40 bucks yet surprisingly good.

Okay building a computer is not hard so don't worry read a guide or somethin if you need but really your motherboard manual should say everything.. good luck

PS don't forget to use standoffs on your motherboard or you'll fry everything when you turn it on

No, its 100x cheaper building your own the buying some epic computer from ebay which has 500$ added to its price.

Incorrect, it is actually rather simple to build your own laptop, it's just like a mini computer, if I didn't need a mac i'd build my own laptop instead of saving up for a macbook

8 gigs of corsair 800 mhz ram is only like 200$ now, and can easily be clocked to 1000 mhz.
Dual cores are better for gaming, and an e8500 is only 200$ with tax, but quad cores are dropping in price.
I personally have a 4850 and can play with everything on enthusiast with a 19 inch acer screen.
go with a 22 or 24 inch asus 1080p screen, they're around 250$.

not true, they have special graphics which are harder to find, but many can be replaced. Problem is it's a lot more expensive and they are nowhere near as powerful as a desktop.

Hard Drive, I'd suggest a 1TB since they're pretty cheap.

For RAM, I'd suggest any 2GB that is compatible. Two of them.

You can buy Vista for around $100 on eBay. Make sure you get the computer builder's edition and not the UPGRADE.

Don't be cheap on fans, after all your computer's life relies on it.

A regular sound card will do just fine, 5.1.

Video card, I'd suggest getting a motherboard that supports dual SLi and getting two 2GB graphic cards if they fit, or just 1GB.

 

I built my first in the second grade, it is honestly entirely common sense. The stuff goes in the ports that they fit in.

I would recommend investing quite a majority of your money into your motherboard, not your RAM. Your motherboard has a larger impact on your computers performance than RAM, a common misconception. About 4GB of RAM should be enough, you could always upgrade it later.

Video card should be easy to find, the difference between them aren't much, and it depends on what you want to play. Check http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest for the appropriate specs for whatever game.

A decent cooling system is important, and a case with good ventilation.
