I am having lunch

With the youth pastor on monday, from a local church. The last time i actually went to church was when i was ten, and that was a Mormon church. So i finally decided i would try to find out why religion is such a big deal, and asked the youth pastor to lunch on Tuesday. He accepted, so we have a good thing going for now!

But now i need your guys's help on what questions i should ask. I will post what im going to ask when i get on tomorrow after work, so just keep em going!

 

Ask him why he believes in God, when he discovered his faith, and ask how he remains a "true christian" (if he is one). This hopefully should last you alot of lunch hour, plus the more general questions/discussion you're going to have.

 

Why is it necessary to go to/attend church?

God saved us for a reason, Why do we have to go to church to repent our sins?

Does god hate weed? (ASK IT FOR MEZ)

Why did god create church?

ect, ect

 

Why does God exist

 

Ask him for proof that god exists, and tell him the bible is not proof.

 

Yes, ask him for real proof of why god exists, and why Christianity is the proper religion to believe in (when he answers your question with "faith" or something ridiculous like that). Also make sure you tell him the bible is by no means proof of Christianity being legit, and why you shouldn't just create your own as it's based on faith. Also ask him why he believes in it, rather than another one. The questions will come to mind while you're talking, but make sure not to cut him down quickly.

 

Ask him: how do you know which religion is the right one?

 

Ask him where did dinosaurs come from? Why aren't they mentioned in the bible...

The Christians say universe is 40000 old, how then some things like dinosaurs are dated 300mil years...

Ask him how that Great and Mercyfull God killed the people of Sodoma and Gomora

 

ask him why god made the plague

 

Some of the questions i will be asking are as followed :
Why should i believe in it?
What proof is there, minus the bible?
Why does he not show himself?

 

The bible teaches to go to heaven, one must believe in God. Surely then, one can only go to hell if one believes in God..

 

"Why does he not show himself?"

Some people would argue he does show himself, maybe not in true form, but in the things he does. (I'm not religious)

Anyway. This is quite a nice opportunity for anyone interested in religion, the basics i'd ask are:

- Why he is religious
- What his beliefs are
- Why is there suffering, if there's a God
- Do you REALLY believe in a heaven

I could think of countless things to ask.

I got one.

If god loves us, why did he create such horrible things? (Alcohol, cigarettes, insects, diseases, ect).

 

Ask him why faith is essential to salvation. Then ask him why God would leave so little proof of his existence, and leave our souls up in the air. Ask him why God would leave it to chance that we would idiotically believe in something that has no proof to support it.

 

Ask him why any religion is better than the other, and why should you follow Christianity

 

The Bible is proof.

Yes I am. I see no reason for modern people to take The Bible as fact. I think we're slowly moving past that.
