System could not allocate required space in registry log.

Hi guys,
I have this laptop, an old one from 2001, and i want to fix it.
What happens is that i start up the computer, wait a while and it comes up with this message saying "system could not allocate required space in registry log.", and when i press OK or close that window, my computer restarts.
Any help? I've tried every mode, eg safe mode, and it comes up with the same message. Please help.
