Only 233 Years after its declaration of Indepence, it's now the only SuperPower in the world. How? Why?

How did United States become a SuperPower?

In my opinion it's because us Americans, in general, are cocky and always think we are right. We think we are right when we go into other countries and use our army to force them to do what we want them to do. Other countries see this happening and mostly cooperate with us because they don't feel like having us invade them and force them (or at least try to) do what we want them to. I guess you could say we are intimidating.

I wouldn't say we are the only Superpower. This really jerks my mind but you have to consider China as one. But thats another debate.

We became such a Super Power because of who we are. Because of this forum, because of Republicans and Democrats, because of lobbyists. And most of all, because the American people continue to support our country if they like what we do or not.

People do not like the controversial wars in Iraq/Afghanistan. But you know what, those people still live here, still buy things, and still participate in the Democratic form of Government.

It is because of our Democracy that we have become so big and powerful. Not to mention or geographical location and natural resources we have.

because we had the land, and then we had the open door policy which then brought in a bunch of people who will work for cheap and industry quickly shot up. So pretty much we pwned.

Your sig befuddled me for a minute, then I figured it out lol.

It wasn't just our economic force that brought us up, it was because we stand together and each have our own opinion.

I'd say because so many people immigrated here, and our population rose very quickly. We also had a ton of land to work on... Plus WWI and WWII forced us to become powerful and become a worldpower.... My random thoughts...

How did United States become a SuperPower?

I believe that because of rapid immigration as well as winning the Revolutionary war in which we brought down one of the worlds strongest armies who were so much better funded. I also believe that what really led us to becoming a superpower was the creation of the Atom Bomb, I mean every country literally shat their pants and no one wanted to mess with the U.S. until the Soviets developed their own Atom Bomb.

We invaded Iran to stop more people from dieing. And technically we invade N. Korea because they can launch missiles at any point in time. The UN is united. They don't act on fear.

Agreeing with SUF, because of the diversity and the willing and the consumers using so much resources.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

First off I would say China is becoming a super-power along with us.

I think we became the worlds greatest superpower because our economy boomed in the late 1930s and 1940s during world war 2 creating great amounts of money for our country. With that money were were able to invent new technologies. We are still a superpower because our countrys poulation, Land mass, technology, money, and armed forces.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

I think the United States is a super power because it stayed away from wars as best as possible like in World War II we tryed to stay away. And since we have so many people in our country and the technology and military is superb to other small country's we were seen as a super power.

Natural resources for starters, also in world war 1 they stayed out of it and made guns for both sides I believe(will find source or edit after) same thing for world war 2 but had to fight when bombed by japan and that was close to the end of the war. Maybe because of how they also build up on good ideas and make them even better(more efficent etc).

It didnt force you guys at all....you seen a opportunity and seized it with the desire to make money by making guns.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

World War II. Britain, France, Germany, and other European countries were devastated by war. The Soviet Union was as well, though it had nuclear arms so it was considered the Eastern superpower. The Cold War made a progression in science and technology of both the Soviet Union and America, but the Soviet Union broke up in 1989, and America is still here.

America's convenient isolation from Europe has made it safe from conventional war and free to focus on its economy, however, countries like China, India, and Japan are becoming worthy adversaries of America's economic power.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

America became the a "SuperPower" through the ties it has/had with other strong countries. They became their own country, and cut off bonds that they had to England in the civil war. That had to send shockwaves, right? People respect/fear America because of what it's capable of doing. Plus, the number of allies they've bulit up over the years helps their cause even more.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

I think that we became a world power because we could capitalize on every war that we started out not involved in (WWI and WWII are some big ones). Well after those wars our economy boomed because we are separated from the world and don't have to worry about some neighbor to invade us or attack us with short range missiles. But mainly because we spent the money and the encouragement to spend it.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

I wouldn't say its the ONLY superpower in the world, the People's Republic of China had potential, as well as the Russian Federation...

But I believe America has become so powerful because it was blessed with an abundance of resource-rich land with which it could prosper and attract the best from other nations.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

The United States has a brute military force. It also sends out the most money to other countries for more reasons of aid than all other countries combined.

**Nonetheless, the European Union is the most powerful economy, and if they unified, they'd be the largest superpower, hands down. Also, Japan is coming up!**

How did United States become a SuperPower?

USA doesn't need other peoples help. They have too much courage and are way too cocky, exactly what Germans said in WW1. Thats what makes them a Superpower in my opinion. Europe and Asia will pwn USA one day.

How did United States become a SuperPower?

OH we were going over this in World History on friday!!!!

okay well... there were the great wars, known as World Wars

these wars were between many people
like the french german russia and japan

i belive the US were allies with the french and russians
we were able to take over after the war and helping our allies

the allies won the war but gave the US the most gratitude since our allys were running low on supplies/troops

so the US came in and helped them win the war

    ALSO! the nuclear bomb
we were the first to make it, after 4 years of making this and spending about... 2billion on funding it.. a basic 1 was created, it was tested in a bombing area in arizona (on google earth u can see a shitload of black circles if u zoom in enough in the area, thats the bombing area)
after more testing there were 3 different nukes, we used them on Japan
1 was used as a warning, it cleared about 3 miles of ground and 50 miles of people from the radiation the nuke is detonated at about 10k height so it does more damage, the light from it blinded people and burned there shadows, in the area i belive there is a area for tourist where u can see pictures of burned in shadows, like a kid in a sandbox pointing at the bomb (his shadow) its crazy stuff

in other words, were in power because we have nuclear weapons! :D
