Sythe.org IRC v2.0 - Support?

Out of the 30 that voted "Yes" only about 20 max where on every day, and it was the same people everyday with the old irc.

 

Question should be whether you would use this IRC server or the ghostnet one?

 

Why? GhostsNet has the same amount of relevance here as SwiftIRC or EFNet (that is, none).

I won't be leaving GhostsNet even with a new Sythe.org IRC. The two are unrelated entirely.

 

I believe that this should be done, as I have noticed and encountered a few scams on the IRC.

Especially for the IRC to go along with the rules as they are here on Sythe.

When I requested for confirmation or proof of the individuals IP etc.. I am basically told to fuck off by Shawn, and that no information would be given.

I don't even get on IRC anymore really, and if I do I just speak randomly, and always AFK. Because, of the immaturity on there.

I like the new idea of a new IRC network specifically for Sythe, rather the the one now which is ran by an asshole. No offense Shawn, but you are.. Especially to cover your own friends asses as to getting a kickout of it.. Even when their highly doing wrong.

Kinda pisses me off to show favoritism towards individuals just because you're friends with them.. Especially when their breaking the rules or scamming. Considering that.. It makes it as if you don't mind your friends to scam, or even if you done it yourself.

How about I start demanding IPs of people on sythe.org and see what the staff tell me? I'm pretty sure it's sythe.org staff policy to NOT give out IPs to members. You are a ghostsnet MEMBER, why the hell do you deserve peoples IPs?

Never underestimate peoples stupidity, or maybe just complete lack of will to learn who knows.

See the thing is I legitly tried to stop abuse, with the member base it was not possible without just removing every single op/halfop and if you do that people bitch and whine and leave.

As I've said in the past, and said at the time this was all happening.

I was pretty much left with two options:
1. Put up with moderate amounts of abuse
2. Have most of the active members leave with no proper way to recruit more

My prediction is that you are either going to end up with a completely dead IRC, or one where the memberbase is the typical sythe member in which case the staff are going to quickly get fed up with the amount of pestering they endure in the IRC.

Like I said to x9, I really don't care if you don't take my advice or if you think I'm wrong. Maybe I am wrong, but I do have a little bit of experience.

And for the record, no I don't think you are a fucking idiot I think to say:

"The old IRC didn't follow Sythe's rules." is both unfair and wrong when Sythe's rules didn't exist back then.

If you'd said "Sythe hadn't placed these rules on the previous server" I would have agreed. I do apologize for my harsh language however it is very frustrating to have people constantly repeat that.

 

For the people agreeing on Sythes rules, what is the line between 'Abuse' and having fun? I'm sure if someone did something stupid and got kicked for like 10 minutes, people would report it as abuse and freak out.

I'm wondering how to solve that problem.
