Well this is basically obvious, and I don't know why its not there. Pictures in real life trading section are not required? Haha, you just gave them a free ticket to sell any type of quality item they wanted to.

In my opinion sythe should fix the scamming part of the site before adding more things for scammers to do.

I don't approve of the RLT section either, but members are always asking for it, and Sythe agreed to give it a try. So, we'll see how it works.

But I agree, pictures should be required. I'll add it somewhere.

    Good call.
This is a stupid decision by the admins to add ANOTHER trading section when the current ones are already fucked.

It obviously needs to be further tailored, unlike the way Sin stickied because it was obvious oblivious to the fact any legitimate seller has a source and more than likely buys their stuff online. Ebay also allows googled images and allows for a legitimate finding.

You don't approve why? You went about it the wrong way. You can't rule out googled images because you feel like it. Someone taking a picture of an item they have makes it no more likely to receive it than having a googled image. Please gain some business experience and tailor your ideas before you run and post stickies

    Thanks,
    Ethan

The pictures are not only for proving that they have the item that is for sale, but it also shows the condition of the object. An image you get off a search engine is obviously going to be perfect to near perfect. On Ebay, people describe the the object if they cannot take pictures of the actual one itself, but that is flawed. Honestly, you can't really trust people on this site over people on Ebay. Ebay has claims that you can file as well, and Sythe does not.

I could say that I'm selling an iPod that's in amazing condition with no scratches, but you could always end up with a piece of shit that looks like it came out of a blender.
"oMG it got mesed up in teh mail i didnt do it"

People want to know exactly what they're buying, as they deserve to. Don't insult Sin about her reasoning. She's always right, and I love her.

I've been looking through the Real Life Items section and noticed quite a few threads without pictures. I think this section needs to be monitored much more than it currently is. What I propose is either A) More market moderators to help with this section or B) a different group of moderators for this section.

I do not approve of the section because scams are hard to prove, and anyone who buys or sells a particular item here is foolish for not going to ebay to buy for less or to sell for more. As I said when this issue was raised, if people act rationally, something is inherently wrong with one end of the trade if anything is successfully sold here.

Sythe is better than ebay for runescape items, since it is something we specialize in. We focus interest, we provide MM's for the sale, we make it easier to find what people are looking for, etc.

However, Sythe is not going to overtake ebay. We do not (and cannot) offer the same amount of support to maintain a strong enough general market to be worth buying or selling real world items here. Therefore, I see it as a project doomed to fail that will only result in lots of people getting scammed and/or ripped off.

That's like saying we shouldn't require images for RS account sales either. After all, they can be recovered (or the seller can offer a fake password) just as easily as one can decline to send an RL item.

The picture shows the sale condition, as well as proof of current ownership. It absolutely makes it harder to scam. Meanwhile, a googled picture would serve no purpose beyond decoration.

You could just require a note in the picture with the persons sythe name or something.

It's impossible to prove if an item has been sent and/or successfully received. Someone could easily claim they never received item X (when they truly did), or the seller could obviously lie about shipping.

Sin summed it up well; Sythe isn't meant to be an alternative to Ebay.

You should just require that when someone puts a picture up, they have their name by it.

You can see what i mean by all of my posts in the real life market.

The point is not whether the seller has the item or not. Easily, I could say "selling my ps2" take some pictures of my ps2 with my sythe name, find a buyer and then "ship" it to him/her. But the package could be "lost" or have "problems" with it. I could easily have sent him a letter, saying that it was the package or I could have easily said it was in perfect condition when in reality it was on the verge of breaking. The need for specialized market moderators for the irl market is necessary.

This is gonna fail whatever precautions you take. All the other markets on Sythe have failed, what makes you think the most scammable market is going to work out?

I agree, we would need someone that is extremely trusted that would be doing MMs for a small fee.

I didn't even think it was possible to kiss as much ass as you just did right here.

    On topic:

What was previously said was mainly true about having pictures on most of them. But, what people failed to noticed, is that you can mail something and put a tracker on it. Boom, problem is solved, the person sends the item, the seller gives the buyer the tracker code, he can track it whenever he wants to.

And since it's a real item, he could actually sue the person for stealing his item. The only problem would be who goes first. I'd sue anyone that took anything more than $20, or notify the police.

I'd just like to say that I myself make sure I look into everything and I investigate fully through EVERYTHING.. It;s not that hard to know when someone is scamming..

Example: Both individuals trade an account, they supply a username and password.. Then one is said to be scamming " DENIED ", because of the simple fact that we nor can they prove that the individual provided false information.

I myself go into everything even as far as creating new accounts just to "trade" the individual asking for account such as the one said to have been stolen (I do this to BOTH parties), and from my past 2yrs of doing the reports.. It's never failed :). I go until I find out the truth :) (NEVER GIVES UP!)

Considering there is now pictures.. It's more circumstantial, but none the less you're never going to find ANYTHING that is going to and can be scammer free. Thus is why we have individual like Giddy Sin666 and I.. We will continue to do our best to keep the people of Sythe as a community satisfied, and keep the scammer rate under control the best way we can..

    Thank you.
