SFA Expansion: Your opinion

The current SFA section is pretty good but I think a slight expansion in the section will increase activity and create a better functioning debate section.
Usually when I enter the Something for all section, I browse through the topics looking for something that I can comment towards or have an opinion about. There is such a wide verity of topics to debate in this section its getting quite confusing and inconvenient. My suggestion is plain and simple and will benefit the entire community. However I don't want anything changed to the current system if people don't like the idea I don't want to destroy the section.

My proposal:
In order to make the forum easy to navigate and user friendly I suggest that topics be split into different categories. Below is just an example of how the section could be divided.

-Philosophy & Religion
-Supernatural, Mythical, Unexplained
-Economics,Society,Politics , People , Other
-Technology & Science

[*] As I said before , these are really just suggestions, If you don't agree say why, if you do say why. If you have improvements or things you want changed please Post so. There will be 3 Options on the poll,
" I would like to see this implemented"
"I don't want the section to be changed"
I want these ideas implemented but WITH changes"

 

I like the idea. Perhaps with a few changes here and there, we could make this a success

I like the idea; I do not see it as necessary but I also cannot find anything negative about it. It would keep the section a bit cleaner and more organized than it is now, and might even bring more activity into the section.

 

I'm glad you like the ideas, however for those of you that said it needs improvement could you explain what exactly should be changed?

 

I just think that it may be necessary to provide users with strict guidelines on what they can post. It could be easy to make mistakes on the grey areas where the topics overlap.

 

Read my fucking mind. The topics are separated quite well but there is still so much overlapping that dividing it like that may not even be that beneficial.

 

I agree with what your saying but I think if users are intelligent enough to read some guidelines in stickies and so on it can sort out any issues.

I totally agree, I don't want the section to die out. Perhaps a trial period and see how it goes or something.

 

Thanks for the suggestion, I like the underlying idea of it (more specific subforums).

 

I'm going to leave it that this. It's up to you and the administrators to decide what you want to do.

 

If users were intelligent enough in the first place, surely there would be no need for this? I'm just throwing obstacles in the way here, and I apologize for that.

 

Meh I don't think SFA is active enough to need sub-sections this specific.

 

That's how I feel too, until there's more people posting and more debates going on rather than people reading the first post and saying their opinion and never visiting the thread again, I don't think it's necessary.

 

Good idea but like everyone said I don't think it needs it until it gets more active.

 

SFA just needs higher quality posters/postings instead of cliche garbage you find and talk about everywhere

 

Well lets start with you saying theres no debates and such. Everything is in one big section.. its a basic mix of "Coke or Sprite" and "True meaning of Freedom" type of threads. Those are completely different, and bring a completely different audience all into one section. If Person A sees "Coke or Sprite" type of topic when he's going down the section, he posts in that, then goes to the SFA thinking "HEY I'LL GET SOME POSTCOUNT", he ends up posting un-intelectual things in Person Bs thread, making Person B not want to post in SFA because of the dumb reply. Different sections would just separate the ideas into more well-formed groups, so that if a person posts in the featured topic on the main page, he can view similar, or related topics in that sub-section.

Read the above, and how would not changing it make it any better? It would just allow it to stay how it is right now. A change could help it, so why not give it a try.
