Christianity obviously fails because it was based off Jewdaism. The entire point of religion is keeping order; if people believe they have to follow a set of rules and keep in line, world order is maintained and the masses are controlled. At least that was what it was created for until everyone stopped giving a shit 25 years ago.

 

Ok the first thing I need to say is... The old testament was the times and traditions that people in the bible times had. They had strict rules. If they were broken there were strict punishments. The new testament is how we should live our lives today. Jesus was the one who set the rules and regulations that we need to follow today.

Now to answer your list...

1. God supporting murder- You need to be more specific.

4. Again this was a regulation they had back then. People knew the rules and they broke them. This doesn't affect today.

5.Another rule they had back then. Your virginity was sacred back then and was to be kept until marriage. Another rule they had back then.

6. And...? A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. Another rule they had back then.

The U.S. government can force me to testify at a trial. They will also force me to hold my hand on that book, and swear to tell the truth. Why should I be forced to promise on such a hideous and disgusting book? Yeah, and I expected the Old Testament Vs. New Testament defense, as it's the Christians last stand.

I just can't see the concept of a God being even remotely possible. Why would a omnificent and compassionate God send me to eternal hellfire for the absence of blind belief? Why would he leave so little proof of his existence? Why would he leave my soul in the hands of people like you who are not in the slightest convincing me? Am I that little in his eyes? Am I not worth a chance to see his power for myself, and then choose to follow or disobey his rules?

In other words, why does faith separate the worthy from the unworthy? Do you honestly think that I'm stupid? Do you think that Atheists in general are stupid, or perhaps just too involved in sin to see the "truth"? What separates you from me, and why are you the one that is going to evade the depths of hell?

You're sort of contradicting yourself here. You claim the bible to be an all-powerful beacon of truth that will always be correct, because it IS the "word of god" is it not? Why should the word of God no longer be good today? Aren't we supposed to heed to his every word? Why would God only create one work of holy literature and expect the rules (that is, only the rules that we've realized are totally bullshit) to be followed in a lax fashion? That just doesn't make any sense. If you really want to go to heaven I don't see how you can argue in favor of breaking some of God's rules just because society does.

I really do love that paradox, because it blocks out the possibility of an omniscient being. Of course, I wouldn't use it in debate with a religious person, as they always come back with something like "God would never do that so your argument fails." And then the Atheist rages.
