The same thing happened to me, I got bullied and was continuously called gay and brought down and every opportunity. Until you have actually experienced that for a whole year then you can't really understand how bad it feels. I even considered killing myself every day when it was happening to me. I see why he resorted to suicide, it must of made him feel really bad. I hope his parents are dealing with it okay, it must be painful for them too.

There's nothing you can do, depends who the kid is, and how he reacts to things. Ya getting bullied takes it's toll and pushes you to a further level, but to take your life is quite too much. I feel bad for him, but this happens a lot.

Whoever said fight back, it's actually works somewhat. One of my friends is an ass and whenever we make new friends he tends to shit on them and hit them til he finally gets used to them. He kept hitting this kid once, and the kid couldn't handle it, and punched him in the face, my bud backed down and accepted him right away when he noticed this kid could be a threat.

Bullies are somewhat the biggest bitches when you finally stand up.

    Too bad for this kid.

That's awful but on the other hand, people need to realize that people just say things like that to get a reaction out of you and otherwise it's meaningless. If it were me I would have given one of them a smack across the face, and if it's a fifth grader, just the shock of that will stop them. I feel sorry for this kid but sometimes you just have to strike back. As Finniscool quoted a while ago, and Malcolm X said,

Hm, things like that are usually not as bad as they seem at the time. This kid probably felt like he was living in hell, and gave up. I'm not saying that his choice was wrong, because I haven't figured this life thing out myself. What is sad, however, is that he probably didn't think it through, and he probably wasn't old enough to see the greater picture.

I feel sorry for the mother. No matter how cynical you try to be, I'm sure that none of you would be able to handle seeing a loved one kill themselves. Living after that would be a constant struggle.

I feel sorry for the kid and his family, All you guys who are saying shit like better now then later seriously grow up. If you got bullied everyday by numerous people you dicks would crumble and probably do the same because your all just a bunch of pussy 13 year olds giving it the bigs on the internet trying to act like you actually have a pair.

As for blaming the mother that is bullshit because if she did try her best and complained to the school what else is she supposed to do? She can't goto the school with a baseball bat and be like "WHO'S CALLING MY KID GAY CMERE FUCKERS!!".

The only people to blame are the people doing the bullying in the first place.

The bullies are responsible for his suicide? To a certain extent, yes, but you can't blame them for the kid's response to it. In the fifth grade, we are all extremely immature, and I'm sure that the kid's would feel remorse if they saw how their taunts made the boy feel, and how he decided to act on his depression.

It's his mother's fault, she should have told him to stand up for himself but all she did was complain to the school. The kid needed to learn how to stand up for himself, if he can't do it in grade school then god knows what would have happened to him in the real world. Where was the father figure here? Why didn't anyone tell this kid that there were more ways to stop bullying like physically getting bigger and acting cooler?

I've been bullied in school and have considered suicide on multiple occasions, but instead of taking the easy way out i took out my anger at the gym and outgrew the kids that talked so much shit to me. Now those kids stare at me in terror whenever I walk by because they know what they did to me and know that I'm looking for revenge and that I can wreck their shit without a problem now. This was a much better option than suicide, and I'm glad I chose it.

You should try to act cooler to try to stop bullying? Why the fuck should you? What this kid should have done was gain confidence first. Changing yourself for the sake of others is never the right way to go. If you live to please and pacify others, you forget to live for yourself.

He needed to learn that the opinions of others should not affect him. He should have been taught to consider the source of his problems (the bullies). He should have been informed of the immaturity of children, and the natural impulse to exclude the odd one from the pack. It doesn't do well to tell that to a child in distress, true, but the seeds should have been planted. Mental strength would have prevented this incident.

What I meant by "cooler" was more socially smart. Knowing how to redirect insults back at bullies, making bullies look stupid in front of the class by wordplay, being able to play with people mentally and putting them in their place in a social environment, etc. Some people are naturally born with this talent, and unfortunately some aren't and they have to learn the hard way. In school I noticed that the most popular people had the strongest personalities, and I observed what they did and how they responded to things and learned from it.

If this kid changed himself to satisfy others, he eventually would have stopped being bullied and would probably still be alive. I don't get why people think changing yourself for the sake of others is bad. It's not really changing to satisfy other people, it's to satisfy yourself because you will be happy if people begin to like you. You live and interact with other people your whole life, so obviously it's better to have them like and respect you than to not like you.

    I don't bully people,
But I think it's necessary for it to happen and people shouldn't baby their kids about it.

in the real world people get bullied, if its your boss or some 13 year old kid it's gunna happen. get over it. lol

It is boring. But that's not the way you're supposed to think about it. Rather that it's amazing to see your body change.

I agree with you Stuart. Ty for your post.

I think those that are making the ignorant comments think it's cool. They are just trying to be cool, like many little kids do. Maybe when they grow up they will learn that "cool" has nothing to do with life.

I disagree. I think the pathetic followers, like the ignorant fools on this thread who support the bullies, are also to blame. If people didn't stand around like whimps and actually tried to stop the bullying from happening then maybe this kid would have had some real friends and support.
