    Laser Surgery.

I've been hearing a lot about this on Television, radio commercials and Internet stories. I myself suffer from myopia (short sightedness) and wonder how beneficial Laser Surgery (LASIK) is for the eyes?

Is there any long term complications?
Is there any proven benefits for EVERY patient?

I don't know much about it, but I'll tell what I know.

I do know that for a while it was against the law for people in the U.S. military to get it because of the fear that the laser would do damage. This rule has been changed now though because LASIK is considered very safe.

Yeah, sry. That's all I know...

My cousin had laser surgery, and its really no big deal. She's doing fine and her vision is perfect. I say go for it if you have the money.

I'm not very experienced but I think Laser is much better than knife... You should ask a doctor.

Why would you use a knife for eye surgery? That makes no sense.

Before lasers, that's what was used. They basically do the same thing, but lasers can be more accurate and are less scary :p

laser eye surgery is safe and works great from all the research i did. im actually looking to get it myself once i start looking into the long term effects again.

cause there are a few cases here and there i heard about in the long run where some ppl had some problems. but this was a while back so i'm assuming it's safer now.

Yeah do it. Tiger Woods did it at 20/20 and has 15/15 or 10/10 right now. I knew some people who did it but they didn't make it near perfect like Woods.

DO IT DO IT DO IT

laser eye surgery is a new technological advancement and, like most other new advancements, has yet to be perfected.
as for the side-effects, the technology hasn't existed long enough for anyone to tell of long term damage (many years down the track).
short term side-effects (6 months roughly) include DRY-EYES (36% of LASIK operations in 2006 got this) which is potentially permanent. ALSO patients could suffer from weird visual disruptions.. whereby they see halos and spots in their day to day vision.

personally.. anything touching your eyes or altering them in any way internally has major potential for damage. i say STICK WITH THE GLASSES UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.

on the other hand.. the surgery could go impeccably well..

im just going by statistics.. 36% potential for permanent damage.
ask yourself.. would you get into a car if there was a 36% chance it was going to blow up while you were in it?
