Computer help! Game keeps on freezing

Ok, Hi.
I recently found a game I played a long time ago..
Heroes of Might and Magic 2.
I am playing it on my Vista Laptop fine for around 2months until recently, it freezes every few minutes and I have to terminate the program.
I tried to repair it but Vista is like oh noes we can't let you do anything you must uninstall blah blah blah.
Anyway, could somebody please explain why this game keeps on freezing (the old disc was scatched so I got a good copy but it still freezes)
and even better, how I can fix this.
Also.. who here loves Heroes of Might and Magic 2?

 

It might be that one of your display drivers are not working properly

 

Try updating your drives and check if you meet the minimum requirements, they might have changed over time.

 

Ok.. I think I'll be fine for requirements for a 1996 game.

I highly doubt that is being caused by a Display Driver casino,,

It will be something caused from your PC, a virus even, etc.

Did you actually try reinstalling or did you just try and repair and give up? If you've been running it for about 2 months, then it just starts freezing, then i agree with Cirx, it must be something to do with your PC, have a look around, see what you've changed, maybe even restore it back to when you installed the game.

 

If it requires internet, check for internet issues. Maybe a new graphics card?

And of course, Reset drivers.

 

Update drivers. More than likely that's your problem.
If not then possibly the game is not compatible with your Operating System.

All I can suggest is re-installing the game, or browse the net for known problems. If it has worked for a while before, check event viewer in administative tools in control panel.
If all else fails, restore back to the earliest date you can remember it worked on. Sorry for going over what people have said but in that order, it should work
