Sythe IM

Hello.
I have a suggestion, I think it's good, let me hear what you think!

The suggestion is a Sythe Instant Messenger. This would make it easier to prevent imposters, add people and easier to get proof on people scamming. The last will require alot of hard disk space, since all the conversions have to be logged.
Omgwtflol came up whit an idea I liked, it could be like the facebook one, that one is easy to use.

Will be collecting some positive and negative sides of this suggestions here, post more and I'll add.

Positives:
- Prevent imposting
- Easier to add, more riddy msn list
- Get more proof against scammers (if logged)
- If Java (guess even harder), proxies can't be used and people have to risk their main IP.

Negatives:
- Would be alot to do for the developers
- Logging would require alot of hard drive space

Excatly point made, but if it can record convos and save on servers it can help catch scammers etc...

 

If it was logged, it would have to be server-side.

That means more donations. But it's a good idea imo.

Yeah, but MSN already can save conversations and is sufficient amount of evidence for banning.

 

Yes, But thats what hes trying to do, Get rid for the use of msn, and for blackmarket tradeing you have the sythe IM to use.

It would save alot of time during trade and help alot.

It would prevent impostors because you would log in with your sythe name, you wouldn't create accounts unless your registered on sythe

 

I thought of this awhile ago. A Sythe traders chat that logged all the chats... Then if they needed proof a admin or something could look at the logs and we would know for sure that they were not edited... But... To much work me thinks.

 

as SuF said, its too much trouble and msn is good enough.

 

My Msn is clogged with Sythe users. It's hard enough to add/find/talk out of my heap of contacts.

Kinda like the Facebook one? I support you 110%.

 

Thanks for all you feedback, I think the status is that it would be good, but hard to do. So, is it worth it?
I came up whit one more thing; if Java (even harder I guess) the IM can't be used by proxy users, so if people wan't to scam then have to get their main IP banned. Adding to the list.

If you are automatic using your sythe username, you could just press "Start conversation" or something similar at the user's profile. Unless people are adding a "SFu" (imposter of SuF) who has 2 posts and no rank and trust him. Only really stupid people would do that.

You see, if the conversations are logged at Sythes database, the mods/admins could easily check the log and see what the reported people said.

Naah, I don't quite see the point whit a shout box. Trades can't be done trough that since it's public.

 

all a shout box would do is make the amount of topics made lower alot. pros and cons to that less active forums more active shout box lol.

 

No offence, but I suggested an IM chat in this thread. If you want to suggest a shoutbox, you should make your own thread.

 

hmm i guess i support it as you could find an mm easier or report a scammer fast.
