That's a lovely quote. It makes sense, too. Reminds me of how old people always say technology will take over the human race.

 

I hate you shakaka, it's not about money, it's about making everyone notice the problem on Earth.

They're not trying to fix something on earth day, they're showing the significance of being green.

Cars are a necessity, your right. However, that's why they make more environmental friendly cars. Duh?

 

They aren't needed to live.

You need food, water and shelter to live.

 

Hey guys, did you know if we all turn out lights for awhile, we can stop global warming!!! What a bunch of bull. Earth day is one of the saddest excuses on improving the earth I have ever heard of ( assuming I'm on correct topic )

 

Yeah I know, I didn't mean to say necessity. But it's a luxury that helps very much in today's world.

 

We aren't goddamn cavemen. People couldn't be on time to their jobs, things such as weapons, metals, building materials, can not be pulled efficiently by horses. Did you ever consider ambulances? Police cars? Firetrucks? Mailtrucks?
I guess we'll all just have to die of heart attacks, burn to death, get murdered, and get mail in 3 months to save the environment. Who the fuck is gonna cart around in a buggy when you can get there 10x faster in a car?

There is no significance! There is no point in being green if not EVERYBODY does it, and not everybody WILL do it.

Oh man, you're right, you're a fucking genius. You've got to be the first one to think of this. What do you suggest?

Ethanol?: Don't make me laugh. Do you know how much farm land would be needed to produce the amount of corn for corn ethanol production?

Hydrogen?: Sure, it's a good idea, but it's still more expensive to produce hydrogen than it is to produce gasoline.

The only logical alternative is electricity, and we're just not advanced enough to harness it correctly.

 

Hypothetically speaking, covering the entire United States with cornfields wouldn't even produce 1/3 the amount of energy we use. Ethanol is useless and is a waste of corn.

 

Electric, as I said. We had a prototype of it...but it got smashed... I don't see it outside the realm of possibility.

 

Your right, it i a waste of corn. However, they have found other plants that can produce biodiesel, plants that are not used for anything else and were predetermined to be useless.

 

It got smashed? Dude, there are plenty of fully functional 100% electric cars out there. They are just not practical for every day people.

Another alternative is nuclear energy. Probably the most practical if it weren't for the threat. A small amount of plutonium could power your car for thousands of miles. The only problem is that:

"The most important isotope of plutonium is plutonium-239, with a half-life of 24,100 years."

That means that, after we use all the energy, it takes 24,100 years for it to completely lose it's radioactivity.

 

Electric is useless, its not strong enough to effect the environment and is too weak to use on a massive scale. Besides that, even if everyone did convert to electricity, our electric infrastructure wouldn't be able to handle the massive loads of energy.

 

Yeah what I meant was the plan to produce them on a mass scale didn't work out, but if it had, I believe that car exhaust pollution would be much less...
There's a movie about this called "Who killed the electric car?", though I've only seen some of it...

 

Electric cars don't have any exhaust at all. It's the process of making the energy to power the cars that most people overlook.

Technology is always being improved to IMPROVE the quality of our lives. Now take a Porche from a typical american man and give him a race horse and he will not be happy if he is not into equestrian.

 

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have seen on sythe, and I couldn't agree more. I think earth day is a made up day that gives hypocrites a chance to shine
