Earth Day is the most pointless day ever

Not only do we spend and waste money celebrating a stupid day that has no actual impact on the environment, it gives the already pompous hippies more room to talk down to people who don't recycle.


Did you know that it takes about 10 times more money to recycle a plastic bottle than it does to make a new one? Not to mention just as much energy to convert it back into a usable plastic container.

I got bitched at today by some hippie bitch that doesn't even wear anything that she doesn't make herself or something for throwing away a plastic bottle.

Fuck earth day.

 

i really dont think that is a waste of money because everything in the world has a point to it.

 

Think of all the banners, signs, ink, paper, bags, bulletins, and t-shirts wasted in every American school for such a cause! Really gets you into the spirit of well-meaning wastefulness!

 

My teacher was talking about Earth Day today, and the Earth Day concert that was held 2 years ago to make money for a new landfill. Well, anyways, the garbage that was left over after the concert was enough to fill 6 full landfills.

Hypocrits+Irony=Earth Day being a little more entertaining.

But yeah, pretty pointless.

Stop trolling about earth day you faggot. Do you spit on your bedroom floor? Keep your old pizza (and the box) in your living room? Shit in your car? Then take care of your planet. It's no different. If you don't think you need to leave this planet in good shape for future generations, your DNA is faulty. Self-preservation of species is the single most natural and necessary adaptation.

I can't find the exact quotation; but yes, it does cost more to recycle than to produce new things. That is a FACT.

I don't give a fuck about the earth. All you hippie queens prancing around in your "all natural" clothes and your hybrid cars, thinking you're making a fucking difference, make me sick. Do you honestly think that you're helping by recycling rather than throwing shit away? No, you're not.

Don't get me wrong, if it mattered, I would recycle. However, it doesn't. Too many people don't give a shit and you can't change that by being a little earth fairy.

 

The reason why it doesn't work is because too many people think like this, and then, vice versa. I suppose it's a bit like that with voting (mah one vote ain't gonna do nothin! Y'all fancy politicians don't know shiyat!- southern apathetic??), and then things often don't turn out as projected/wanted.

 

That's because they have the same attitude as you. That's like saying "Why vote?, One vote won't make a difference." Since a lot of people think their vote won't make a difference, millions of people don't vote when necessary and then shitty officials get in charge; and guess what, the people that didn't vote are usually the first to start bitching.
It's no different then thinking the same about Earth Day. "Why should I help, my little bit of effort won't help anything." When everyone thinks with that attitude, then yea, you can't help the Earth.

Regardless of whether or not people have the same attitude, it can't be fixed. People HAVE to drive cars to get to places. Pollution is a way of life.

For example, the biggest environmentalist in my school is one of my teachers. Guess what kind of car he drives? A big V8 diesel truck. Even if a million people change their way of life, the dent it would make would be minuscule and unnoticeable. It's completely pointless.


Recycling makes little or no difference anyway.

 

It's not about the money, it's about the resources.

 

Electric cars actually were an option at one point, and it was pretty much out of our hands because the small electric companies got overriden by GM. Buying hybrids cars however is possible, and that guy at your school is just a hypocrite I suppose. But I agree in that fact that even though I recycle and occasionally tell other people to, it just isn't going to make a difference at this point, too few people care.

 

Why not use horses and buggies again?

here are a few:
-Shipping won't be possible
-Car companies would easily drive it out of business just as they did the electric car
-Long distance travel will be impossible
-We live in the 21st century. Whatever's fastest is what we will use
