Not really.

I play 3 different instruments, currently learning a 4th. All self taught - never took a lesson for any of them in my life. And I play by ear (no sheet music). The only sheet music I know how to read is for the trumpet and I guess if you want to call guitar tabs sheet music, that too.

 

I still have my Teddy Bear that I got when I was like 3 months old.
