Java or Python

I've been working in IT as a Network Admin for over 3 years now and am looking for a skill/hobby to do in my free time like scripting. I truly enjoy OSRS but feel like I'm wasting my time when I'm getting no real world gain out of just playing. Anyways, I was looking into a Java course on Udemy but was intrigued to see people in the forums claiming they use Python to script. Now I know Python developers are highly sought after IRL so I see this as a chance to grow my resume and do something fun like script OSRS. So my questions are do I go with Java or Python and is Udemy a good place to get stated?

 

Java for writing bot client scripts. Period.
As a network admin, you are better off with python, though.

Writing scripts for games isn't very 1 to 1 knowledge you can take to your job, except basic operations etc. Where do you need an autoclicker, color picker, [..] in your day-to-day job, for example

You could start working with the SytheLib in python. I don't know why Java became the defacto bot language, I feel like whoever adopted that was wrong. Hah

 

It's due to RuneScape being written in java. And (reflection-/ injection-based) botting clients (your typical botting clients) use Java to manipulate RuneScape's "java objects". You can't use python to do that.

 

Fair enough. Java is such a shit language though. RIP
