    Hiya.

As most of you know, the RuneScape site has a section about account recovery. As we also know, you are able to recover your lost accounts or forgotten names from there.

But theres more to the Recovery system.

    Recovering other peoples' names.
I'm not talking about recovering X, Zezima, Gertjaars, or Rab... I mean the old names.

You know the kind I'm talking about. ^_^
Created in early RuneScape times. 2001 - 2003 usually. Those are no doubt the best names in the game.

But what if you were to manipulate the Recovery System into recoving "your lost account from 2001"?

    You'd be a king. :D

But the only thing that stands between you and that amazing, amazing name is...

    Recover a forgotten password

Important Information This form will allow you to request that a new password is set for the account: '--------'

    The most annoying part o_O

Is this really possible? Being able to get an amazing, taken name? :D

I hope it is, and most of you probably do too.

Have you ever gotten a name before?
    Is it even possible?
    Do you have any tips/suggestions?
    What name do you want?

    Share you opinions! :D

And wish me luck as you try to get your beastly name! ^_^

This was possible and it's how almost all rare names were reintroduced back into the game. It was very quickly fixed by Jagex and is now next it impossible. Good luck, I guess, but it won't work.

Yes, me and my friends used this. It was quite fun and pretty much everyone you see with a rare name used this exact method.

Erm basically say you were gone for a while and you moved and that's why your IP changed. Make up random things for all the recovery questions and create a fake email. It seems to be best to use AOL, because that was one of the main internet service providers back in 2001. Also, don't try for an insane name, because Jagex seems to look at those extra carefully.

    Ok, cool, thanks.
Before, I was going for Envy but after my 14th rejection, I decided to go after a different name, lol.
    Now I'm going after... :p
    Thanks again :D

    One more quick question :D

What kind of passwords did the people use back then?

Well there was basically no password filter, so anything that was popular then. Just think of things in the early 2000s and say they were your passwords. Oh, and it's somewhat based on luck.
