    Anyone into botany?

Recently i have had the interest of botany. So i ordered some seeds today from a wonderful online store. The first one was 50 seeds of Mimosa Pudica also known as the tickle me plant. Also, i ordered 20 seeds of the venus fly traps. I figured this would be good for a 'beginner'botanist. I use to grow corals in saltwater tanks, so i know what to expect pretty much.

    Just looking for some feedback.

I only got the fern seeds for now. They said the venus fly trap seeds would ship in 14 days, which im not sure if thats 14 days from now or when it was shipped.

What they look like : [IMG]

What im growing them in : [IMG]

I don't really have an interest in Botany, but I think having a Venus Fly Trap plant or two would be kind of cool.

One thing I loved while I was in my last year of school was photosynthesis, I personally probally would kill my plants for assigments If it was not for my parents. So you grow coral now that would be sick.

My sister had a Venus Fly trap once. I thought it was pretty boring lol. I thought they'd be cool and move or something. I always thought if you put your finger in a Venus Fly Trap then it'd bite you. But obviously, i was incredibly dissappointed :(.

I grow all my own herbs and most of my own vegetables. I have done various hydroponic style gardens. I advise growing herbs as a beginner item as they grow fast and don't need a whole lot of attention, basil is probably one of the easiest things to grow.

Try chives or mint. I grew both along with oregano.

Start out with basil, garlic chives, lemon balm, rosemary but basically anything you want. There isn't many types of herbs that take much attention, just make sure where you are planting your seedlings/seeds wont get too wet as they do hate to get soggy.

    Anyone into botany?

Well right now i have a lot of seeds coming my way. Once i grow tired of these, i will probably go out to my grandparents. They keep a year round greenhouse, and they get their own seeds, etc. I will have to see what i can score.

Next i wanna grow some bonsai tree's :D

I've done both chives and basil, the rest I really didn't bother with. If you want to start out, I recommend chives, they are really easy to grow.

Venus flytraps are pretty boring as that dude said up above mainly because they can't eat too often. Takes them forever to digest their prey. I used to be a chef before I joined the Navy. My favorite foods tend to ne of south, central american, or mexican decent. I like to have my garden stocked with a variety of peppers, herbs and tomatos.

I know what im doing, so i wouldn't really call me a beginner. I just never really actually messed with growing plants.

Next item to order is bonsai tree seeds.

The Bamboo-Leaf Japanese Maple looks pretty cool. When you get the seeds and they grow a little, you definitely need to post some pictures. =D
