The idea seems nice, but it would definitely be abused by many users - mostly the part where you can detract points from other people. That could be used in situations unrelated to trading where one user has a grudge against another. The concept for this idea, though, is a nice one. Thanks could be built up over time to show how much someone has contributed to the site as Graham said. Points gained by higher-ups should probably be decreased by a bit, though. With some more ideas and restrictions to the system, this could be great.

    I support.

EDIT:: Maybe this should just be in places outside of the blackmarket where you don't get vouches, such as the User Education section. This would also promote activity in areas of the site other than the Runescape sections. Getting a vouch and thanks for a trade would add more than just a vouch's worth of trust, distorting the system we have now.

Goober, that seems like a very good idea! Or even better...one thanks system for the blackmarket, and another for the rest of the community .

I support, it would be much easier than trying to sort out people's fake vouches and stuff.

I like that concept much better. It would show that your not only trusted in the black market section but your involved in other forums, making you more well-known etc.

I agree. The concept that it could be used outside the market forums is what I thought from the start. If we use the thanks system it will allow members to show that standard of activity, commitment, activity, etc. to the forums. Perhaps when someone thanks someone they need to specify why they thanked the person- this would allow other users to view the reasons why someone was thanked therefor they would not seem phony. I actually really like this idea, it would give people an idea of someones stature as I stated above.

I think your idea is ok but my idea of a reputation system is better in my opinion ... u could always bribe a mod to give you thnx ... :p

I was merely posting that as an example - and the main reason was to get rid of possible ban evaders; which don't usually live long enough (without getting banned) to get their post up high. I am now editing my thread using all the ideas and critisizm I received to a more solid, workable, and useful (for this particular unique community) idea.

Hope to get some more ideas.

I agree. I think that it doesn't matter if you are a Leecher or Grand Master, post count DOES NOT symbolize or represent trust in any way.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from Finn, but most people (intelligent ones anyways) would use post count as a standard for trust. It would just give someone an idea of what someones done and how they've carried themselves out on the forum. It wouldn't determine trust, just certain positions on the forum would allow you to give more worthy thanks than other positions.

Post count doesn't really mean anything, to be honest. Someone who posts a lot of crap could have 1,000+ Post count and be a very untrusted person, however on the other hand someone with 10 posts could have 10 very intelligent posts and be very trusted.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing post count just taken away completely. I know, yes, that post count does have it pros, but most people misinterpret it.

Well that means everyone would need to startover, I'm pretty sure no Mods/Admin would want to check everyone's vouches etc.

    - I actually like the thank system myself, but this is a pretty big change, basically I agree tho :).

It's an ok idea, but it should be 1 point for each user each time they complete a successful trade regardless of post count. As posters have already said before me, rep systems have been used and abused on other forums and I don't think Sythe.org could benefit from one, think of how many fake trades would happen for members to gain reputation/thanks points.

If you read the entire thread you would have realized I changed it from post count because of others ideas. Yes, other forums have failed with rep systems, even sythe.org used to have one way back when - but this not the same thing. This thread was created to FIX ALL FLAWS. Which means that if you think somehow people are going to fake trades and get enough rep to abuse the system, tell me how they possibly will do that and I will counter the problem.

I didn't just mean post count, I meant it towards what you changed it to. I am pointing towards this crappy system:

That's just more douche bag ranks, that whole idea is retarded. What I am saying is regardless of which rank/thanks amount a user might have, they can still only give one point to whoever they traded with, per trade not based on any kind of allowance per month system. Either way you look at it, incorporating any kind of system like this into these forums is far too much time and effort for mods/admin.

As for faking trades, how basic can you put that... Sythe user A creates topic selling fake item, Sythe user B buys said fake item and they give their thanks points to each other.
