Regarding to verifying of guides [Not an idiotic thread]

I was reading through another thread about Guides, and I saw someone say "Make mods verify them."

So, this got me thinking. Since most of the mods don't play RS, why not a specialized team of people that can verify guides, that do play RS?

I'm not suggesting a new moderator position or anything, just a team of some sort. Have anywhere from 3-5 experienced players who can verify guides in a timely manner by trying them themselves. By trial and error you will eventually get a team that doesn't just skim over it, think it works, and say "Yea it works." on the thread.

There are quite a few of experienced players on the website, and this being a Runescape forum, I think we should take advantage of that.

What do you prefer, as a guide buyer, in all honesty:

-Me, a 5+ year Runescape veteran to completely test the guide to see if it works.

or

-A mod, who skims over the method, thinks it works, and posts "vouch." on the thread.

I'm just using myself as an example.

I think if you were to come up with a good list of people that actually play and are good at it with some free time, it'll be nice for everyone in the end. With this, you can stop:

-Shitty guide selling
-Un-needed crappy vouches
-Spam in the guide forums
-Overwork for the mods

Post what you think etc.


I'm not requesting more mods. I'd suggest these people have no moderator permissions. Secondly I'm not suggesting ranks, you can choose whether or not to give them ranks or simply make a thread saying that these people are the ones who can verify the guides.

 

Good Idea, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I also think that Runescape related guides should count towards User Education Promotion. I'm not talking about Transfering Guides, I'm talking about things like "How to play Barbarian Assault", or like the one in my signature about rare accounts. These are more useful and specific guides for our type of community, comparing to something along the lines of "How to turn on your ipod", or "How to weld". We didn't come to sythe.org to learn how to weld.

 

I myself was also, it would be a great idea, that way, the mods wont have to worry about verifying as they have other things to do, although id still prefer if a mod verified my guides. haha

 

This should clean up mess in there.

 

I think we have enough mods as it is.

 

why not just verify guides if your so good at it? why do you need to be part of a special club?

There is no need for the things. If anyone should be given these permission, I think they should be given to User Educators. Just my opinion, sorry.

 

Bad idea. Its not about what you think, its about what moderators consider a complete and thoroughly enjoyable guide. What is the point of wasting the time creating a special rank that just verifies guides? Before long, the person in that rank becomes bored with verifying everyone's guides, and either stops or requests more power. Also its just a stupid idea to begin with.
