Do you think it is right, or ok to have multiple spouses at the same time? Why? Why not?

I think people have the right to do whatever they want to their body or others, IF THEY APPROVE.

I think it's fine, but the U.S. Government disagrees.

So long as everyone involved is O.K. with it, then why not allow polygamy?

No. I do not agree with this. Although some people may enjoy the freedom of copulating with multiple partners, Jealousy will eventually ensue and hatred etc will also rise and other complications will eventually form. (inheritance, compensation, child support etc)

I don't understand the question. No, I don't think it's "alright" because I think that humans picking a single mate to raise their offspring benefits the offspring more. I want one lady who wants one man. Psychology shows that a single man and woman raising a child is the best way to do it.

Do I think it's alright if other people? Like I said, no, not really. I think a single mate is the best way. Will I stop you from doing it if you want to? Of course not. Be it by legislation or force, I wouldn't intervene with your life. That isn't to say I wouldn't give my opinions on the subject to the person with multiple wives in question, though.

Who in their right mind would approve of their husband having affairs. Plus ^ what he said.

From what I've heard some women from Afghanistan and other countries out there actually approve of their husbands having multiple wives and it's actually legal. It's also a law now that their husbands have the right to have sexual intercourse every 4 nights, and the husbands have the right to "rape" if they refuse.

I think marriage is a bit of a joke; half of them end in divorce, and a lot more have at least one side being unfaithful.

Still, when multiple spouses are allowed, women generally get a raw deal - it kills our "do that and no sex" threat.

I believe this question is all depended upon ethics and standards.

Different places teach their people different things and their opinions are somewhat influenced upon it.
In addition, it is also depended on the person's view on that subject.

I'd say it's not-moral only due to the "love shared". I believe that you should share your love with one person forever and ever instead of sharing that love.

Marriage is a sacred relationship between one man and one woman. So no, its not right to have multipule spouses.

Multiple girlfriends or boyfriends? Do as you wish with that. When dating there are no 'ties' and no 'serious love' for your other

Too many complications with multiple spouses. Also, ask any girl if they want to share the person they love.

I don't really care, but if I had to choose, I'd be against them. No matter how ridiculous people make marriage to be, it's still supposed to be between two loved ones; not permanent booty calls.

I think it's ridiculous, but really, I don't give a shit. If it was a necessity to chose, I would disapprove. As Jesse stated above, marriage is supposed to be between two people who love each other very much. Who can blame them, though? Most of the Polygamists' are basically born in it, I think, and are not educated well enough by their mothers to be able to study other religions.

Why can't you love multiple people? I mean, I would never, but how come it cannot happen? What is stopping you from doing whatever you want (besides the law, which in this case doesn't apply)

I'm against, in agreement with the lot of them. Although, in some cultures having many wives is a part of their sacred culture or seen as a sign of respect. In the common world today, I would say this is highly looked down upon. Many religions take marriage as a very serious binding agreement and special bond. I feel as if in the US, Canada, etc. marriage is somewhat taken as a joke, according to the through the roof divorce rates. If you're going to make the commitment of marriage, why break that bond which you willingly agreed to by having multiple spouses. On the whole, polygamy is seen as common in specific regions, but in the majority of them it is frowned upon. If you have really fallen in love with another woman, then you need to take the proper steps such as divorce to involve yourself with the new found woman. Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me- what you do with your personal life is your business, not mine. But according to my standards- polygamy is foolish, irresponsible, politically incorrect, etc.

You can love multiple people, but marriage is generally between two people. However, polygamists are more commonly brainwashed into the lifestyle - meaning that they feel as they have to marry multiple wives. Like I said, there's a different between polygamist love and true love, as I stated above.

Marriage is defined as always between two people- not generally. I would say it's more a cultural standard rather than brainwashing. But I do agree a polygamists love is different than true love.

I say freedom of ANY marriage. Homosexual, polygamy, even if you wanted to marry a dog, that's not my problem. If you think you love her/him/it, go for it.

The religion I follow doesn't allow it but I believe it's okay if that's their choice and everyone in the group of people agree with it. I don't know why the U.S. doesn't allow this but then again you could just all live together as a group of people, it's not like you have to be officially married to make it work out.
