my fucking mic

i just bought it and it doesn't work.
it says it works when i do a sound check thing, and even when i go to set it up on msn it says it's working. but when i try to send a voice message, it doesn't work.

any suggestions?

 

Either wrong type of mic, or you are using the wrong settings for it.

 

I'm am 99% certain that you have McAfee installed on your computer.

Windows Live Messenger and McAfee Site Advisor tend to interfere with each other in sending Voice Clips for some reason, and may be resolved here:

it's a computer mic. i just bought it. i've had the same kind before and it works
and i set everything up correctly, like i said, it says it works.

 

Go on windows movie maker and check if the sound is actually going in to the mic.

 

Might you have a Realtek Program existant on your computer?

 

I don't have McAfee though D:

It doesn't work.

I searched for Realtek and one file showed up but it was just a text file.

 

God... trying to think, I had the same problem.

I changed something from like internal or external mic, I changed it to the one that I didn't think it was, but it worked on that one for some reason.

Well, then... you said that the thing itself says that it works when you do a sound check, but doesn't that just mean that the computer is detecting the software, but you haven't tested and played back the sound?

If this is the case, then do the following.

• Start > Control Panel
• Go to Classic View
• Click on "Sounds and Audio Devices"
• Click on "Advanced" in the Volume Tab
• On the far right should be an option for the Microphone Volume
• If you do not see this, go to Options > Advanced Controls
• In the Advanced Controls is a place for the Microphone
• In the "Sounds and Audio Devices", also click on the "Audio" Tab, and make sure "SoundMAX Digital Audio" is selected for the Default Devices, unless some other option is available.
• Check the Volume of both of the devices to make certain they are functional.

After you installed the Hardware for the Microphone, you did restart your computer, correct?

Perhaps there's a driver that you need, or perhaps there's some malfunction with your sound card.

I can't think of anything else. :'(

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder

try recording a sound to test your mic. if you hear yourself, then you have the wrong settings on msn. if not, then it's a different problem, obviously :\
