I am whatever I am, and if you are not satisfied, I don't care.

Hello. This thread was basically made to question the classic line, as stated in the title. Recently, I found many people have started living by the ideal that they are perfectly happy with whatever they are, regardless of the fact that generally these type of people are the ones really need change. Isn't the point of life to constantly strive to be something greater, something better? Various Greeks and Romans would devote their entire lives to the sole reason of becoming virtuous. Where would we be today if people sat back and said that they were fine with the way they are, and relaxed. Personally, I find people like this extremely lazy, and very disagreeable to be around.

    Thoughts?

Just because you are happy with who you are doesn't mean that you will necessarily be lazy and not try to be productive. :)

There is no point in life, and if there is we don't know about it. Just live and be happy, because whatever happens, happens.

I guess the biological answer is that we are supposed to reproduce, but I think we make our own point of life, whatever that is.

I don't believe people simply have the will to say that line and actually mean it :\

People say that line but do they actually mean it?

Human beings are created with several emotions and feelings and one of those feelings is being accepted, liked, and self-conscious.

I find that statement very vague and annoying :(

Caring is another side because I believe humans and their self-conscious will quarrel but eventually they will have an undeniable urge to care.

We are supposed to reproduce, but in the end we won't be able to reproduce forever because humans won't live forever, so for some people that eliminates that choice.

I took this into a different perspective and found that statement to be somewhat ignorant as well... Again, self-conscious dominates..

It's a ridiculous quote to 'live' by.

You have to care what some people think. Consider an interview for a job out of college saying this, "Yeah man, In college, I tried a little heroine, had hoes errynight, might have genital warts but don't have time to check. But I did graduate top ten in my class bro, so we good?" Yeah, killer way to approach life.

In my experience you should be yourself to an extent, but there are many times in your life where what others think of you is crucial for self-improvement.

I don't know if you guys fully understood me. Perhaps I was unclear. I am talking more along the lines of instant gratification. In our society, specifically our generation, many people do not strive to be the best person they can, but merely take the easiest and less time consuming path in most endeavours, and predominately the one lacking worth.

If you think about it, since we are all going to die, does that not mean we are all going in the same path?

No. You can take two different roads and still arrive at the same destination.

But since the same location is death why does it matter which path you take?

Are you one of those emo kids that says there is no point doing things of worth in your life because you are eventually going to die?

    Yes of course it matters.

Why not enjoy yourself and do your personal best before death? Death isn't something that should dictate how you live your life, it just marks the end of your life.

Of course it matters! (Almost)Everything has to have an end, just as everything has to have a beginning. Why should that have any bearing on how you spend your life? (The only influence I can find is that you should do MORE things of worth to have a sense of accomplishment)

Actually, you my friend, just switched off from what you were originally saying. You originally said that because one eventually dies, whats the point of...living! He was answering that question, not answering if being lazy could grant enjoyment in life.

Oh, alright then. Anyway, I answered your question a few posts preceeding this one.
