Cant Connect To Xbox Live Now (For Some Reason)

Ok So basically I have been playing xbox live for about 2 years now via a Wireless Connections.

Then one day my parents decided to move our modem down a floor(The Same Floor As My 360)

I Tried to Connect to Xbox Live and It wont let me.

Ive tried Static I.P, and Automatic.

Static I.P gives an Error of Like "Cant Use this Static I.P"

And Automatic Says Like"Cant Find I.P)

All my other computers do work for internet and they to are wireless.

I even tried a non wireless connections to my 360 and it does work but its too impractical to use since theres 1 big wire throughout the house.

Ive called Xbox and they have no Idea.

you need to port forward your modem..

 

how do I do that

 

Im pretty sure I dont need to open up any of my ports, just because I have connected before and its been an open NAT. So I dont think it has anything to do with that.

 

I would suggest totally disconnecting it, and hooking it all back up again.

By the way, you might as well try what you said above this post.

 

Could it also be that the wireless connection isnt strong enough? Technically I moved it closer.

Check if it has a WEP or WPA? That's the main probable that it could be.

 

Alot of the times the WEP or WPA key is located on the back of the modem

 

almost positive i dont have a wep key. I will check though but im almost 100% sure

 

of course you do if you didnt anyone could access your network.

and lol at draggin if he's having ip address issues what would port forwarding do? lol

what router/modern are you using i'll try and help you.

 

I have a a Linksys wireless gaming adapter and a Linksys router WRT54G v3.

 

Try moving it closer, see if it connects. If it doesn't, we know its not the distance that is the problem. If it does, you need to keep it closer.

 

Maybe it's your router? [The one connected to the 360]

You might want to look at tweaking that rather than your real router, seeing as how the other computers can pick it up.

 

Ok I got it connected but now the connection is horrible. I moved it closer too.....it used to be 1 floor up across the house but now its on the same floor but across the house.


Its weird, I can get connected but I lagg constantly

unplug the plugin thingy, or restart router
