Legal or not? Some claim its a game of luck, and should be banned, more claim its a skill based game, with marginal luck.

Yes, online poker is legal...there really is no discussion to be had.

 

Of course. I absolutely hate gambling, but I hate government restrictions. I don't care about other people's futures for the most part.

 

It shouldn't a discussion about the legality of online poker, but more of a discussion based upon whether it's skill or luck?

Christmas Crackers is right, even if the discussion is supposed to be about luck or skill. Poker is a game which requires a decent understanding of the game and there are surely tactics which can be used to better one's chances of winning, so in that aspect it's a game of skill. But, in terms of luck, you do need luck to win the game, as in every game. There are moments within any particular game where luck occurs and moments where skill takes over.

Betting isn't the same as poker. Betting is taking likely chances to place an amount of money or item on a specific sport, activity, etc. So poker would be considered more of a sport in this case. Betting is tied into poker, but not in that aspect.

 

I would be very wary of the games that are played. I don't see any reason why a few of the programmers could program it so they would get the better hand if it was possible.

Em, I used to play online poker, never for actual money though. It will never be banned because it's just a game. There is some skill involved, but it's mostly luck of the draw. Welcome to a casino, everything is luck.

 

i have heard alot of rumors of ways to hack it and suchmore i would never trust it.

 

the main issue with online poker is that it is so darn easily accessible to teens who use their parent's credit card, and, with lack of any sense of responsibillity, gamble untill they lose everything.

The game is 100% legal, and should always remain that way, it brings us no harm, if you have an addiction to the game, oh well!

 

I think it should be legal, but there should be bankroll restrictions so that people don't gamble away all of their money. It also takes some skill, and people can make big bucks on it, so.. I think it should be legal.

Online poker should be and is 100% legal. I don't really see why it shouldn't be. You play it, you risk the chance of loosing your money; maybe you win, maybe you loose. Story over.

I don't see why for any reason it shouldn't be legal... if someone wants to risk their money that way then let them. They can learn the hard way in the end.

and to the subject, my friend is 15 and plays online poker, even though it is legal his addicted to it now and luckily uses money he gains over the internet.

i play it for fun and with friends but i know my limits.
