    Introduction
    -----------------

Hello and welcome to my agility guide! I'm Bio and I'll be your guide for the next few pages. I am currently level 91 agility (half going for 99) and fairly knowledgable on the subject, in my opinion anyway. It is also, by far, my favourite skill.

I'm writing this guide for two reasons. Firstly, for the benefit of my clan who are all fools and need such guidance (only joking if any of you are reading this), but mainly because the amount of thread on the forums asking for agility help is quite scary. So, to cut down on these questions (many of which are easily answered), I've written this guide. I hope you enjoy!

I'd also just like to point out that this isn't just a guide to get to lvl 99 the quickest way. There are many aspects of agility that get little publicity because they're thought of as slow or inefficient but are quite enjoyable.

    The Basics
    ----------------

Agility is the measurement of how agile and fit a players character is. It has many uses, the main one being the higher a person's agility level, the quicker they regain energy. In real life terms it makes little sense really, a character can run around with heavy platemail for 10 hours a day and not get any fitter. Another character could walk over a log once in a while and regain his energy faster because of it. Nevertheless, it's a very useful skill to have as it opens up many doorways:

    -Faster energy regain
-Shortcuts around the world to speed up training
-Access to new areas (Saradomin GWD area being a good example)
    -Crystal bow and shield
-Some quests (and the quest cape)
-Some minigames (Rogues den, agility arena, etc.)
-Races! (if you've never raced a friend around Runescape, try it! It's fun )

Agility is trained by running (or walking) around courses dotted around runescape. These courses have obstacles you must get over, ranging from climbing over a small wall to hanging onto a bar with your teeth as you slide down a wire over a spiked pit (the aptly names 'death slide'). Now there are no other skills which give you the ability to do that

Some Tips Before You Start Training
    ---------------------------------------------------

-Don't just stare at a screen for hours on end. Listen to music or listen to the radio while training to stop yourself getting bored. Watching tv is an option but because you will be clicking so much, you may find it difficult to do both at once.

-Lag is your biggest enemy. Many courses require quick and accurate clicks to get fast times and maximise experience, and so playing on a laggy world will make it much more difficult. Try to cut down on it as much as possible when training.

-ALWAYS train with energy potions. I can't stress this enough, you should always be using them! The only situation I can think of not using them is if you have less than 10k cash, and in which case you shouldn't be reading this guide, you should be out earning money. Seriously, energy pots are 200gp each MAX, usually 150gp, and they allow you to run indefiniitely. You can use super energies if you're rich but for those on a budget (like myself) use regular energy pots.

-Lessen your weight. The lower your weight, the less your run energy will go down and you will be spending even less on energy pots. Wearing boots of lightness (acquired in temple of ikov) or/and spotted cape or spottier cape will lessen your weight even more, but negative weights are the same as 0kg so no need to go below it.

-Run with a friend! It makes training more interesting. If you're a high level, I suggest joining a guild such as the Ape Atoll or Dorgesh-Kaan guilds.

-Always do a complete lap. This may seem obvious to some people but I have seen people at the gnome stronghold just repeating the log over and over again. When you complete a lap, you will get a lap bonus, and this is where the bulk of the experience will come from in many high-level courses. Even if the lap bonus in low level courses isn't huge, it's still better than repeating one obstacle over and over again.

-Familiars aren't worth it. Bull ants and spirit terrorbirds can replenish your energy but require far more clicks than energy pots and can't follow you into the course. Use pots.

-Always try to go as fast as possible, it will actually liven up training trying to go around faster than other people, as well as getting you more xp.

-If the course can hurt you regularly, take food. It will increase your weight but you'll be able to stay there for longer. The best food for this are baskets of strawberries as they can heal 6hp x 5 = 30hp per inventory space.

-If the course can hurt you, keep your hitpoints as low as possible. Most obstacles will do less damage if you have lower hp, so you will use less food up. However, keep an eye on your hp, I won't accept any responsibility if you're stupid enough to let yourself die with this information

-You may find you accidentally clicked near an obstacle instead of on it. However, there is a way you can tell if you clicked in the right place. Look at the cross that appears near your mouse pointer when you click. If it's red, you clicked on an obstacle. If you clicked on the floor to walk, it will be yellow. This is very useful for the rope swing at ape atoll.

-Training with a full clan chat can really help, as you can watch what people are saying rather than just concentrating on running around and getting bored.

    Gnome Stronghold Course
    -------------------------------------

May as well start from the bottom. This and the agility arena (which is useless xp at lvl 1) are the only courses available right from the start. The course is not hard to find, it's the roped off area on the east side of the gnome stronghold with lots of angry gnomes shouting at you.

The course is fairly short and useful for skillers as you can't fail! No falling means no food so you should have pretty much no weight when going around. Here's how you should get around the course.

    1. Walk across the log
    2. Climb up the first net
    3. Climb up the first tree branch
    4. Walk across the tightrope
    5. Climb down the second tree branch
    6. Climb over the second net
    7. Crawl through one of the pipes

You've just done your first lap! Wasn't too bad was it? Here is the amount of experience per obstacle.

    Log..................................7.5xp
    First Net..........................7.5xp
    First Tree Branch..........5xp
    Tightrope........................7.5xp
    Second Tree Branch....5xp
    Second Net....................7.5xp
    Pipe.................................7.5xp
    Lap Bonus.....................39xp
    Total xp...........................86.5xp

See how much difference that lap bonus makes? Now, there are a few things the must take not of to get the fastest times.

-The pipe can only be used by one person at a time. This shouldn't be too bad on a quiet world as there are two but if the course begins to get a bit full, change worlds.

-This course is scattered with gnomes, so be careful where you click. It's very easy to waste time by accidentally clicking on a gnome. The main place this will happen is the tightrope, as the gnome tends to sit right next to it.

-Drink pots when running to the log, it's the only gap large enough to drink effectively.

Lap Time Aim - 37.5 seconds

    Max Xp/hr - 8.3k

As you can see, that is fairly slow xp. Don't worry, it will speed up!

    Agility Pyramid
    ---------------------

The Agility Pyramid is interesting to say the least. It can make quite a good break for those who are power training at Ape Atoll or Dorgesh-Kaan and is fairly good experience for mid-levels. You need 30 agility to get to it.

The pyramid is found in the far eastern area of the Khardian Desert, east of Sophanem. The easiest way there is to take a carpet ride to Pollnivneach, another to Sophanem and run the final bit. Because this is in the desert, I highly recommend bringing desert robes and waterskins, as well as pots and food, as this course unlike the gnome stronghold WILL hurt you.

The pyramid is 5 floors high and each storey has many different obstacles for you to overcome. It is a very long course with obstacles being repeated more than once. Here is what you will face:

Rolling Block - This is a block which will slip when you run over it. Hopefully your character should jump and make it to the other side. Note that if you walk over it in the opposite direction of the course (anti-clockwise) you will always fail.

Low Wall - Easy to overcome, just climb over it.

Jump Gap - Some of the blocks have crumbled over the years. You must jump over these.

Hang Gap - Some gaps have left ledges of stone for characters to hang from. Use what is there.

Ledge Gap - Some gaps have ledges to can stand on. As long as you stay close to the wall, you should be ok...hopefully

Planks - Presumably kind archeologists who scaled the pyramid years ago found no other way of getting across. Anyway, they left planks there which allow you to get across large gaps.

Moving Blocks - The bane of anyone at the agility pyramid, these blocks will move out and push you off at the most inconvenient moments. There are two on the course: the first is on the first floor on the east side, the other is on the third floor on the north side. Learn where these are, it will save you a lot of time.

Failing any of these obstacles will cause your character to fall down to the previous floor. Because the floor size decreases as you get higher, hope that you fail higher up as you'll waste less time.

You'll be confronted by the obstacles in this order (presuming you don't fall):

    Floor 1
    1. Rolling Block
    2. Low wall
    3. Ledge Gap
    4. Moving Block
    5. Plank
    6. Rolling Block
    7. Hang Gap
    8. Ledge Gap

    Floor 2
    9. Hang Gap
    10. Jump Gap
    11. Hang Gap
    12. Rolling Block
    13. Ledge Gap
    14. Low Wall
    15. Jump Gap

    Floor 3
    16. Low Wall
    17. Ledge Gap
    18. Moving Block
    19. Jump Gap
    20. Plank

    Floor 4
    21. Jump Gap
    22. Rolling Block
    23. Jump Gap
    24. Low Wall

    Floor 5
    25. Rolling Block
    26. Jump Gap
    27. Climb to bottom

That is a long course! Here's how much xp each obstacle gives:

    Rolling Block.........12xp
    Low Wall.................8xp
    Ledge Gap.............52xp
Moving Block..........0xp <---Most annoying AND no xp
    Plank.......................56.5xp
    Cross Gap.............56.5xp
    Jump Gap..............22xp
    Exit...........................300xp
    Total (no falling)....1014xp

Other things to take into consideration:

-At the top of the pyramid is a golden pyramid artifact. This can be sold to Simon Templeton (the guy at the start of the course) for 1000gp each. It isn't much but it's a nice little bonus.

-There are few places to drink energy pots as the obstacles are very close together. You can drink while waiting for the moving blocks but the best idea is to drink when you're at the bottom and running to start it again.

Lap Time Aim - 2:40 mins

    Max Xp/hr - 22k

Although you may not complete a lap that often, the bulk of the experience comes from obstacles that can be repeated. It is fairly easy to get 18k xp/hr here.

    Mega Agility Guide

I'm glad you like the first section :)
I did say on the opening post btw that i will have to post my guide in parts because it is so long.
So here is the second section!:

    Penguin Course
    -----------------------

This is, in my opinion, the nicest looking course in runescape. Crisp white snow, shiny blue icicles, a cutscene of your penguin sliding down a slope and an army of communist penguins in the background!

To access the penguin course you need 30 agility, to have completed the Cold War quest and your own penguin suit. If you lost the one you had in the quest, you can make another one in your POH with silk, a plank and a clockwork mechanism (1 steel bar).

Getting to this course can be a slight pain. Talk to Larry (East of Rellekka) and go to the iceberg. Transform into a penguin and then slide into the penguin hideout via the avalanche. Take the door on the left, go past the interrogation chair (o_O) and you should find it! Go to the waters edge to the north to dive in automatically. Go around the course in this order.

    1. Swim past the crushing icebergs
    2. Jump onto the stepping stone and then onto the others
    3. Run north a bit
    4. Tread softly over the icicles
    5. Climb up the ice slope
    6. Watch the cutscene ;)
    7. Go through the gate and repeat!

A fair amount of experience is up for grabs around this course:

    Icebergs...................55xp
    Stepping stones.....80xp
    Icicles.......................40xp x 4
    Ice.............................180xp
Cutscene.................0xp But it's nice to watch
    Lap Bonus...............65xp
    Total..........................540xp

Other things to note at this course:

-The icebergs will only damage you if you stop in their path of movement. If you click at the other end of the water, you should move through without problems.

-If you run straight through the icicles without treading softly, you WILL be hit damage automatically. It's a waste so don't do it. if you're using the minimap at this part, know where your clicking, but I would use the normal screen to walk instead.

-This course is a long way from a bank, the nearest being Keldagrim. It's a long walk so double check that you have everything before you set off.

-While in the penguin suit, you cannot have a weapon, shield or cape equipped. This means those who use spotted/spottier capes will have to leave them at home for this course.

-There are two good places to drink pots or eat food here. The first is when running to the first icicle, the second is at the end of course after you've gone through the gate and are on the way to restart a lap.

Lap Time Aim - 1:30 mins

    Max Xp/hr - 21k

This may seem quite good experience but at level 30 you will fall a lot, meaning more bank trips and slower laps. Even at level 40, you will only get 8k xp/hr, so only use this if you want a change, are bored or want to look at the pretty scenery!

    Barbarian Outpost Course
    -------------------------------------

At level 35, you can join those agile barbarians and start charging around their course. This is a fairly popular course, presumably because it was one of the first ones released. However, just because it's popular doesn't mean it's worthwhile, as you will find out.

To enter the Barbarian outpost course, you need 35 agility and to have completed the Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl. The bar crawl is fairly easy to complete if you know what you are doing, I will add a guide to it a bit later on.

The best way to get to the course is to use a games necklace and teleport to the Barbarian Outpost. The course is pretty much right next to where you end up.

This course is fairly short, and its experience reflects this. Here is how you get around:

    1. Swing across the spike pit with the rope
    2. Walk across the log. Watch out, the pool has bite* things in!
    3. Climb up the net
    4. Walk across the ledge
    5. Climb down the ladder and run southeast
    6. Climb over the three crumbling walls
    7. Repeat

Here is how much experience you receive for each obstacle:

    Rope Swing...........22xp
    Log..........................13.7xp
    Net...........................8.2xp
    Ledge......................22xp
    Crumbling Wall.....13.7xp x 3
    Lap Bonus..............46xp
    Total.........................153xp

    Things to note:

-The net can be very annoying to go up as you have a tendency to click behind it and then get stuck. I recommend right clicking to make sure you have the net selected.

-All the obstacles are crammed together so there is nowhere you can effectively eat or drink potions.

-The rope swing can't be used than more than one person at a time. If a world is crowded, swap.

-Although not particularly useful for training, the pipe into the course will give you an extra 10xp. It's useful to know useless things :)

Lap Time Aim - 36 secs

    Max xp/hr - 15.3k

It's this which annoys me about this course. There's almost always someone there but the experience is terrible for the level. Go to Agility pyramid or even the Skullball course, this place has a popularity which it doesn't deserve.

It also annoys me because I wasted many hours here as I didn't know there were alternatives -.-

    Wilderness Course
    ---------------------------

From one overrated course to one deeply underrated course. The wilderness course has a terrible reputation, simply because it's dangerous and there are revenants. However, the benefits of the course outweigh this by miles.

To access the wilderness course, you need 52 agility, although I recommend going at level 49 with an agility potion. You only need level 52 to get over the ridge to access and although this may take a few tries, it's worth it. The quickest way of getting there is pulling the lever in East Ardougne (near the gate to the west side). Take a knife with you so you can cut through the web and then run west until you come to it.

The obstacles are done in this order:

    1. Crawl through the pipe
    2. Swing over the spike pit
    3. Jump over the stepping stones and don't fall in the lava!
    4. Cross the log over ANOTHER spiked pit
    5. Climb the rocks and repeat

There is a lot of xp for just that:

    Pipe.........................12.5xp
    Rope Swing...........20xp
    Stepping Stones...20xp
    Log...........................20xp
    Rocks.......................0xp
    Lap Bonus..............499xp
    Total.........................571.5xp

There are lots of things to take into consideration when doing this course.

-Firstly, this course has a bad reputation for being dangerous, as I have already said. Although this is true, it should make no difference really. You're there to train agility, you shouldn't be taking anything other than food, energy potions and a knife in with you. It won't matter too much if you lose that.

-You will encounter revenants a lot here. If you see one, swap worlds. When it notices you, you'll have difficulty shaking it off so do it sooner rather than later.

-Contradicting what I said earlier, taking dragonhide may be a good idea here. You should keep it at death, and it will protect you a bit against the skeletons around the course and in case a revenant lynches you while you're not paying attention.

-There are 2 lvl 25 skeletons roaming around just after the log balance, as well as lots of them in the spiked area when you fall. This shouldn't cause a problem for most however.

-Unless you are a skiller. Whereas the obstacles which will adjust to your hp level to some extent, the skeletons will be a constant annoyance for skillers. Revenants will be as well although only imps, goblins, icefiends and pyrefiends will be able to attack you. Overall, if you're a skiller, this course is still possible but you must always be on your toes and always have full health.

-The lap bonus for this course is huge so not completing the course fully will lose you a huge chunk of xp. If you fail the rope swing, don't forget to go back and retry it, or else you're missing out on big experience.

-If you fail the log or rope swing, you'll fall down into a spiked pit with lots of skeletons. Run north and you'll find a ladder which will take you back up just north of the swing.

-Once again, the pipe can only be used by one person at a time, so if a world is busy, switch or wait for a revenant then clear off.

-Unlike other courses where I would suggest keeping your health as low as possible, here you should keep it fairly high. This will stop a revenant catching you unawares and killing you.

-Spirit wolves specials don't work here, it isn't multi-combat.

-The gap between the log and the stepping stones is a pretty good place to pot or eat, as is the gap between the rocks and pipe.

Lap Time Aim - 43 secs

    Max Xp/hr - 45k

As good as this seems, it doesn't take into account revenants and the time wasted switching worlds. You should be getting around 35k xp/hr in the end, which is still VERY good xp for the level.

    Skullball
    ------------

Ahh, skullball. This is more of a minigame than actual training but nevertheless it's very good experience. To get to skullball, you must have completed Creature of Frenkenstrein and have 25 agility.

To get there, go north of canfis to the slayer master and then go south east until you find a werewolf in a small hut guarding a trap door. As long as you're wearing the ring of charos (reward from creature of frenkenstrein) he'll let you in. Skullball is on the east side of the dungeon.

The premise of skullball is very simple. You must kick the skull through ten goals and then into the final hole against the clock - the faster you do it, the more xp you get. You can kick it three different ways: tap it, kick it or shoot it. Tapping it will move it one square forward, kicking will move it five squares and shooting it will move it ten squares.

To get the full 750xp, you must do it in under 4:00 minutes, which is very easy. However, you want to fit in as many 750xp's an hour as possible, so here are some tips to help you:

-If the skull stops just after a goal, tap it back through and then you can shoot it through again.

-You can rebound the skull against walls but the distance it travels is reduced. I haven't tested it enough to know exactly how much but you can use this to your advantage and speed up runs.

-There are lots of wolves on the course and you can accidentally click on them. Be more careful with your clicking when practicing skullball.

-Practice makes perfect! If you can't do it sub 3:00 straight away, keep trying, don't give up.

    Lap Time Aim - 2:30

    Max Xp/hr - 18k

This is good experience until the agility pyramid becomes benefitial, so get practicing!

    Werewolf Course
    ------------------------

The werewolves are pretty stupid really. You put on a ring and they all presume you're a werewolf all of a sudden. Anyway, this course isn't used much due to its long lap times, but it's quite enjoyable and you get to zip wire over spikes with your teeth, which is always fun! :)

This course is in the same dungeon as Skullball, so you need to have completed Creature of Frenkenstrein, as well as having 60 agility. For how to get there, see Skullball. The agility course is on the west side of the dungeon.

The wolves, never ones to encourage mindless training, add something to their course. Instead of a lap bonus, you must fetch a stick that they throw for you and give it to the agility trainer at the end of the course. One the way to the trainer, you must do overcome these obstacles.

    1. Jump from stepping stone to stepping stone
    2. Jump over the hurdles
    3. Crawl through the pipe
    4. Pick up the stick
    5. Climb the skull slope
    6. Zip wire down using only your teeth!
    7. Hand the stick in

Sounds dangerous? Well at least you get fairly rewarded for it.

    Stepping stones...10xp x 5
    Hurdles..................20xp x 3
    Pipe........................15xp
    Wall.........................25xp
    Death Slide............200xp
    Stick........................190xp
    Total........................540xp

Things to know before/while training at the werewolf course:

-The stick is very important if you want xp, don't forget it! Believe me, it's easy to do.

-You can't click the stepping stones until you are fairly close to them. If you click when you're far away, you'll get the message "I can't reach that!" and your character will stop moving.

-Your weight makes a big difference when going down the death slide: the higher, the more likely you'll fall. Because you get so much xp for the death slide, this course is one of the places where I would say weight lessening items are a VERY good idea.

-Don't forget to give the stick in either. Just reminding you :p

-After you've handed the stick in is the best place to eat or drink a potion. There isn't really anywhere else you can do it while keeping your speed.

-Be VERY careful as the death slide can hit up to 30 hp here. Keep your hp fairly high.

Lap Time Aim - 43 seconds

    Max Xp/hr - 48k

It takes practice to get around this fast, but if you practice enough, it is possible. Try to exploit when you can click to keep moving constantly.

    Ape Atoll Course
    -----------------------

Ahh, the legendary Ape Atoll course...anyone going for 99 will probably spend a fair amount of time here, swinging from vines, climbing trees, etc. This is a very popular course because you can get huge amounts of xp here. However, it has a steep learning curve and will give you terrible experience if you use it when it first becomes available...use it wisely!

To access the Ape Atoll course, you need 48 agility, to have got through most of Monkey Madness (to the part where you've made a gree gree) and a ninja monkey gree gree. To make a ninja monkey gree gree, bring some tele grab runes, the gree gree you get in the quest, some money and a ranged weapon. Hide in the long grass and range an archer monkey (lvl 86, should be easy if you can do the quest) then telegrab the bones. Buy a talisman from the magic shop (while in disguise of course) and then take them both to Zooknook to make it.

Ape Atoll is a fairly short course but offers very good experience. In monkey form, you must:

    1. Jump across the stepping stone
    2. Climb the tree
    3. Swing across the monkey bars
    4. Climb the skull slope
    5. Swing across the river
    6. Slide down the vine

There is a lot of experience for doing just this.

    Stepping Stones....40xp
    Tree..........................40xp
    Monkey Bars...........40xp
    Skull Slope..............60xp
    Rope........................100xp
    Vine..........................300xp
    Total.........................580xp

Things to note at ape atoll:

-If you have under 70 agility, it's probably a good idea to bring a knife with you. This way you can pick the pineapple at the end of the course and cut it into rings. This will heal 8 hp without having to waste money on food. It respawns slowly however, so if you're losing too much health, you'll have to bring your own food.

-There is a general store nearby so if you plan on training there for long periods of time, take noted potions and some money. This will save you having to travel back to the bank every hour or so.

-Ape atoll is covered with a network of rivers and waterfalls which all flow back to the beginning. Because all the obstacles at the start of the course are low experience, those with lower agility levels will find themselves getting little experience. One slip almost anywhere and you'll wind up back at the bottom again.

-Many of the obstacles you have to click are small, so check the colour of the cross when you click. Remember, if it's yellow, you've clicked in the wrong place.

-The only valid place to drink potions is after the vine slide. You can fit in 2 doses with concentration but generally 1 is enough as you usually lose 7% of your energy per lap.

-Once you get to level 75, you won't fail anymore! Although from lvl 72 onwards it makes little difference as you almost never fall.

Lap Time Aim - 38.5 secs

    Max Xp/hr - 54k

Note that I have been running ape atoll for probably about 80 hours now and I've never got 54k. My best is about 49k, and fast people can consistently get 50k. It takes practice and absolutely NO lag to get the best experience, and this is the time when it matters. If you're getting about 45k an hour, that is fairly good.

    Ape Atoll In-Depth Lap
    -------------------------------

Note: This is only really for those who plan on spending weeks at ape atoll powertraining. If you like to just occasionally go to casually train, you don't need to worry about this.

Okay, this is when lap times really start to count, the long hard fight through the high levels. Believe me, a fast lap will speed up your journey considerably. This is certainly not the best way to do it, it is simply the way I do it, and I can get around 39.5 secs per lap when it isn't laggy.

I will presume you've just finished sliding down the vine and are about the land on the ground. Position the mouse on the minimap approximately where the stepping stone will be and then click as soon as you fall from the tree. Don't worry about letting the animation finish, it doesn't matter on this one.

While your character is running along, drink a dose of energy pot if you need you as you won't get another chance this lap. Now position your screen so it faces directly south and place your mouse cursor in the top right hand corner of the screen. When the stepping stone appears, click immediately. You will know if you hit it by the red cross, if it's yellow click again. Don't worry if you can't get it straight away, after a few dozen laps you'll get the timing almost every time.

While your character is jumping onto the stone, turn the camera so it faces south west and then right click the tree and mouse over climb. When your character lands AND has finished his/her landing animation, click and they should immediately begin to climb the tree.

While they do this, place your mouse cursor on the rough corner of the land where the land begins to slope upwards. If you had the right place, when you climb the tree you mouse should be right over the monkey bars. All you need to do is click when it appears.

While your character is climbing across the monkey bars, turn your camera to face the south east, make sure it's as high as possible and put your mouse cursor on the corner of the monkey bar frame nearest to you. When you drop down, your mouse should instantly be over the first skull so you can click and climb. The skull is small so make sure the cross is red.

While you're climbing, turn the camera to face South-east-east and as far down as possible. This way you should be able to click the thin rope almost as soon as you stop moving. Check the cross as it's very easy to miss!

Once you know you're definitely going to swing across, right click on the tree and mouse over climb. As soon as the swinging animation starts, click. You should charge off up the tree even though you'd only just finished swinging. You now have a relaxing journey down the vine before you must repeat it all again. While swinging down, I would face the map south west, but this has no real benefit, I can just see the monkey better!

Congratulations! You've completed a lap Bio style, and it should be fairly fast. It may take a while to get timings and placings but you'll soon be speeding around with the best of them :)

    Mega Agility Guide

Thankyou for the comment mate :)
Good luck with leveling your agility.

Here is the third and final section:

    Dorgesh-Kaan Course
    --------------------------------

Before I started writing this guide, I had never used the Dorgesh-Kaan Course. I don't know why, presumably I was just too lazy. After a few runs I was hooked. Unlike Ape Atoll, where you run around in monkey form (which sounds fun but the novelty wears off fast), here you must retrieve parts from a power station on the other side of the course for BIG experience.

For the Dorgesh-Kaan course, you need 70 agility and to have completed Death to the Dorgesh-Kaan so you can enter the city. There are two routes along the course, agility and grapple, so if you want to do the grapple route you need 70 ranged and strength. But you should be there for agility anyway, so it isn't necessary (I'm only 68 range). YOU MUST BRING A LIGHT SOURCE WITH YOU! Preferably a bullseye lantern or a miner's helmet as you won't need to keep relighting it.

The fastest way to the course is the fairy ring code AJQ - this will take you to the slayer caves below. Just run north to the section with lots of little cavebugs and you'll find a ladder on the wall to the right, taking you to the course. If you haven't unlocked fairy rings yet, go to Dorgesh-Kaan via Lumbridge then take the stairs to the east. Run as far south as possible and take the stair there up to the course.

For any decent experience, you will need to fetch the generator part Turgall wants. Talk to him in the powerstation to the east of the start of the course. He will want two items, a heavy item and a fragile item. Heavy items can only be carried back along the agility route and fragile items can only be carried back along the grapple route.

    Heavy items:
    Cog
    Powerbox
    Lever

    Fragile items:
    Capacitor
    Fuse
    Meter

Make sure you have at least two free inventory spaces, as he will give you a spanner and you will need another for the item.

If you're taking the agility side (which you should be, make your way across this way:

    1. Walk along the cable
    2. Swing across the cable
    3. Swing across the monkey bars
    4. Swing across another cable
    5. Squeeze through the gap
    6. Crawl through the tunnel
    7. Walk across another cable
    8. Swing across another set of monkey bars
    9. Fetch item

If you're taking the ranged side (bad person), your journey is simple.

    1. Grapple onto the platform
    2. Grapple onto the next platform
    3. Grapple onto another platform
    4. Fetch item

Once you've completed a route, go to the powerstation and then use your spanner on either the boiler (heavy items) or the console (fragile items). Once you have the item, go back along the route that corresponds with your item!

Here is the experience for the agility side:

    Cable Walk......25xp x 2
    Cable Swing....22xp x 2
    Monkey Bars....25xp x 2
    Gap....................7.5 xp
    Tunnel...............7.5 xp
    Item bonus.......1216xp
    Route Total.......1375xp

For the grapple side, you get more than just agility experience:

Grapple Platform...18xp x 3 (Agility, Ranged and Strength)
    Item Bonus.............571xp (Ranged Only)
Route Total.............625xp (Ranged), 54xp (Ranged and Strength)

This is the experience total for one side only, and to do a full lap, you must go back again. So for a complete lap, with no falls, you will get:

    Agility Only........2750xp (Agility)
Grapple Only....1250xp (Ranged), 108xp (Strength and Agility)
    Both....................1429xp (Agility), 1250xp (Ranged), 108xp (Strength)

Other information about the Dorgesh-Kaan Course:

-If you fall (which is likely), you will end up in the slayer caves below. To get out, run north to the small area with lots of lvl 6 cave bugs and climb up the ladder there. Any items you were carrying will smash so you will have to repeat the course to get it back again. Note that you are more likely to fall when carrying an item.

-Unlike Ape Atoll, you will never stop falling. This means some hours will give you terrible experience and others will give you great. At level 85 and onwards, you don't fall too often so training hear is a good option. If you have a bad hour, don't give up! Your luck will change :)

-Don't sit and read the conversation, just learn where to click to get it over with as fast as possible. The items you need to retrieve will be shown in the chat window. Also you can click four times to learn what he wants, and then run.

-To make sure you don't forget what you're meant to be collecting, moving your spanner around your inventory can really help. For example, putting it in slot 1 = Powerbox, slot 2 = Lever and slot 3 = Cog.

-A lot more running is involved here, so you will be spending more on pots here than Ape Atoll. This is where energies become more preferable to super energies in my opinion.

-The best place to drink is when running to or from Turgall, as there is a long gap between him and the first obstacle. If you fall, eating or drinking in the slayer caves is a good idea so you can set off immediately when you get back up.

-There is a bank on the bottom floor of Dorgesh-Kaan to the north west. You can also use the fairy bank if you came via fairy rings.

-Don't attack monsters in the caves, they poison you!

Lap Time Aim - 2:35 mins

    Max Xp/hr - 66k

Remember the Ape Atoll max? That is a BIG difference, and this is going to be the fastest xp you're ever going to get. However, remember that Dorgesh-Kaan is failable, and that can severely hurt your xp gain. You should be able to get 55k xp/hr fairly consistently at 90+, which is better than the Ape Atoll max.

    Where Should I Train?
    -------------------------------

It's all well and good explaining each of the courses, but the main question is which course to use at which level. It's a question that is asked often and there is a lot of argument over which is best. Here is what I believe.

    Lvl 1-15
    -----------
Unfortunately, you have to start small, and the gnome course is the only valid place to train at these levels. Don't worry, it shouldn't take more than an hour with pots.

    Lvl 15-35
    -------------
Hang on, you don't get any new courses at lvl 15! What you do get though are some monkey bars at edgeville dungeon. They are very repetitive and there's a risk of revenants, but this gives around 12k xp/hr and is unfailable. That's better than sitting at the gnome course for ages.

    Lvl 25-35
    -------------
Some say that you're better just to stay at Edgeville bars until lvl 35. That's fine if you want to, but if you get bored, as I would have by then, skullball is more fun. In my opinion it's slightly faster as well.

    Lvl 35-48/49
    -------------
You're going to be running around the agility pyramid a lot now. It's not great but it's the best you'll get at these levels, and at least you can make a bit of cash along the way.

    Lvl 48/49-60
    -------------
With an agility pot (or a summer pie if you can get hold of one), you can now get into the wilderness course, and it has almost twice the experience of the best thing before. Beware of revenants though, death is not preferable.

    Lvl 60-68
    -------------
With practice, the werewolf course becomes faster experience. However, you will need practice as it's quite difficult to go around in 43 secs, but possible.

    Lvl 68-85
    -------------
From 68 onwards, I think Ape Atoll is faster experience, and much easier to navigate. Lay back for some mindless training once you hit 75 as you can't fail and it's easy to just go on auto-pilot.

    Lvl 80-99
    -------------
From 80-85, it's your choice whether you want to go with Dorgesh-kaan or Ape Atoll, they are fairly similar experience. However, from 85 onwards Dorgesh-Kaan is faster so you really should use it (I know there are quite a few ape atoll purists, but it's true).

There you have it, those are the most efficient places to train to 99! And you'll be training a long time if you go all the way.

    Info for 99
    --------------

If you're going for 99, you'll probably want to know how long it will take you. The short answer is a LONG time. It isn't a 99 to be taken lightly, you'll be training for many months. The answer I'll give certainly won't be completely accurate, as I cannot take into consideration falls, randoms and your speed, but it will be an estimate to give you an idea on how long you will be going for.

I will presume you will be taking this route to 99:

    1-15 Gnome Stronghold
    15-25 Edgeville Bars
    25-35 Skullball
    35-49 Agility Pyramid
    49-60 Wilderness
    60-68 Werewolf
    68-85 Ape Atoll
    85-99 Dorgesh-Kaan

This is how many laps you will need to do to get to 99.

    Lvl 1-15 Gnome Stronghold
    28 laps

    Lvl 15-25 Edgeville Bars
    271 laps

    Lvl 25-35 Skullball
    20 laps

    Lvl 35-49 Agility Pyramid
    69 laps

    Lvl 49-60 Wilderness
    319 laps

    Lvl 60-68 Werewolf
    614 laps

    Lvl 68-85 Ape Atoll
    4576 laps

    Lvl 85-99 Dorgesh-Kaan
    3555 laps

That is a lot of laps. How long will it take?

    Lvl 1-25 Gnome Stronghold
    0.3 hours

    Lvl 15-25 Edgeville Bars
    0.4 hours

    Lvl 25-35 Skullball
    0.8 hours

    Lvl 35-49 Agility Pyramid
    3.0 hours

    Lvl 49-60 Wilderness
    4.4 hours

    Lvl 60-68 Werewolf
    7.6 hours

    Lvl 68-85 Ape Atoll
    50.8 hours

    Lvl 85-99 Dorgesh-Kaan
    158 hours

    Total Hours spent
    225.3 hours

Now add on a bit for lack of concentration or/and lag, and you're looking at around 270 hours. If you play 3 hours a day, that's 90 days or 3 months.

In other words, it's about the same time as fishing, but fishing doesn't require lots of clicking.

    Brimhaven Agility Arena
    ---------------------------------

NOTE: For you to use the agility arena effectively, you need at least 50 agility. If have 40-50, avoid darts at ALL costs. If you have less than 40 you will find yourself becoming frustrated very quickly.

There is a very good reason I've left the Agility arena until after 'How to train'. Brimhaven should NEVER be used for training purposes, there are always better options no matter what level you are. This is because you won't start getting consistent experience until lv 50, and even then it will be pretty bad.

However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it. It is a fun minigame and you can make some money while you're there, or get some extra experience if you want something fun between training. The basic idea is to collect tickets by tagging ticket machines in order. The tickets can be traded for different prizes.

The Agility arena can be found in north east Brimhaven. It costs 200 coins to get in (if you've completed Rocking Out, it's free!) and I suggest that you bring food and possibly energy potions if your agility level is less than 50. Good foods include baskets of strawberries, summer pies for an added agility boost and cakes, (quickly stolen from Ardougne on the way to the arena).

The rules are simple. You must tag the pillar that is flashing in order to receive a ticket. The first pillar you tag won't give you anything but for everyone that you tag after that without missing one will give you a ticket. Once you get a rhythm, try to keep it as you'll lose tickets that you could have. Note that the flashing pillar will change every minute, so you must be quick!

Between pillars are a variety of different obstacles of varying difficulty, the easiest requiring 1 agility to complete but some requiring lvl 40. These will slow down your journey to the pillars, making life much more difficult for those who cannot get past them. The layout of the obstacles is like this.

Notes: Click on the plank which isn't destroyed, walking on any of the others will cause you to fall. Medium speed

    Obstacle: Blade
    Level Required: 1
    Xp: 0
Notes: The best was across this is to click on the platform your aiming for on the minimap while the blade is down, but so that while your running to it, the blade goes up before you get to it. Your character will stop just short of the blade and then carry on when it goes down. Otherwise it's quite hard to get across unhurt. Fast

    Notes: Failable, Slow

    Obstacle: Handholds
    Level: 20
    Xp: 22
Notes: Failable, causes you to fall. Avoid whenever possible, these things are known for being very very easy to fail, wasting valuable time. Slow

    Obstacle: Pads
    Level: 20
    Xp: 26
Notes: Failable, rocks fall on your head, you do a superman animation if you pass it. Fast

    Obstacle: Spikes
    Level: 20
    Xp: 24
Notes: Failable, same as pads except spikes cripple you. Fast

    Obstacle: Spinning Blades
    Level: 40
    Xp: 28
Notes: Failable, can rack up damage quickly at low levels. Fast

    Obstacle: Darts
    Level: 40
    Xp: 30
Notes: Failable, lower your agility level by 2 if you fail. Avoid whenever possible as you can quickly find yourself with less than 40 agility, making it very hard getting around the arena. Slow

That is a lot to avoid. As explained, some obstacles can make you fall down. These are particularly annoying as you have to waste time getting back up the rope. All failable objects will hit you for damage (the amount is calculated by how much hp you have left).

Tips to maximise the amount of tickets you get:

-When you tag a pillar, always head straight back to the centre. It's easier to get the ones in the corners when you're in the centre of the arena.

-Don't copy other people and jump over walls or pillars while waiting. If you're in the centre, just stay still, you won't be missing out on any serious xp. There's nothing worse than jumping on some pillars then finding the pillar has changed to one in the opposite direction.

-Keep your hp around 6-12. This way you'll only be hit for 2 damage each time. Cakes or baskets of strawberries are best for this. Summer pies are also very useful as they heal 2 x 11hp and give an agility boost as well!

-Run when you're heading for a ticket, walk when you're heading back to the centre. Energy is precious, don't waste it.

-Plan your route through fast or medium obstacles as they offer the best time. Only go through slow ones if there's no other way to get to the ticket pillar.

-IF YOU HAVE 70+ AGILITY you can get upto 40k xp/hr. Instead of standing still, continuously attempt spikes and pads as these give the most xp. Don't do this if you're under, you'll use too much food.

Now, what would be the point of all that if there wasn't a reward afterwards? The rewards for the arena are fairly good, as they have a mixture of experience and cash.

    Ticket cost......Reward
    1.......................240xp
    10.....................248xp each (2480xp total)
    25.....................260xp each (6500xp total)
    100...................280xp each (28000xp total)
    1000.................320xp each (320000xp total)
    3........................Toadflax
    10......................Snapdragon
    800....................Pirate Hook

As you can see, if you want experience, it's best to save tickets up before you buy it. 1k tickets is obviously the best to save up for if you train regularly as it offers the most xp. Also, if you get xp, use Karamja gloves 2 or 3 as they increase the xp by 10%.

Toadflax...what's that used for? Agility potions of course! If you want to help yourself train, buy these and make them into agility potions. Or you, could always buy them and then sell them again! It isn't great money but you can make about 40k an hour if you get a good run. Same with snapdragon, although check the prices of both herbs as they can vary in price per ticket usually.

And finally...the pirate hook! This is only if you intend on staying for a long time, but it's worth it. They are worth a lot of money (1.3 mill at the time of writing) and are therefore better money per ticket than the herbs. Remember though, you have to stay there the full 800 tickets to get your moneys worth, it will take a long time!

Remember however that the Arena is NOT for training! You can get a maximum of 40k xp/hr here, and only if you train for 17 hours. To get this, you should have 70+ agility...so go to Ape Atoll instead! With less than 70, you can get 21k, which is still rubbish for the level.

    Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl
    ------------------------------------

To access the Barbarian Outpost Course, you must have completed the Barcrawl, a test of character the Barbarian way. The barbarian guard will give you card with list of drinks and where to acquire them from. Unfortunately, it only gives the name of the bar, so finding some of them is difficult if you don't know where to look. This should help you find them!

Note that to complete the Barcrawl, you will need 208gp and maybe an extra 60gp to get on and off Karamja. Also make sure you have a fair amount of hitpoints when drinking the beers, especially the Heartstopper as they can do some serious damage to you and your stats.

Old Suspiciouse - Jolly Boar Inn, Northeast of Varrock
Uncle Humphrey's Gutrot - Blue Moon Inn, Varrock
Hand of Death Cocktail - Rising Sun Inn, Falador
Black Skull Ale - Rusty Anchor Inn, Port Sarim
Ape Bite Liqueur - Karamja Spirits Bar, East Karamja
Old Supergrog - Dead Mans Chest, Brimhaven
Heartstopper - Flying Horse Inn, East Ardougne
Fire Brandy - Dragon Inn, Yanille
Liverbane - Forresters Arms, Seers Village
Fire Toad Blast - Blurberry's Bar, The Grand Tree

Hopefully that will help any aspiring barbarians. You also need to do it for the Scorpion Catcher quest so it is worthwhile to do if you haven't already.

    Case Study: Energy Pots
    ----------------------------------

Are energy pots worth it? I've had a person who didn't believe that it was wroth using them, and that's fair enough if you think that. I did a quick test at Dorgesh-kaan to see how much of a difference they really made though.

I did two hours of training at Dorgesh-kaan, one with energy pots and one without. I fell exactly 5 times in both hours and didn't need to bank for the pot laps. I had a fair amount of lag on both hours so the experience gain won't be great, but you'll get the picture.

First hour (with energy pots) - Gained 56.5k experience
Second hour (without energy pots) - Gained 45k experience

You don't have to be a genius to realise that's a big difference, especially seeing as energy pots cost VERY little really. By not using pots, you'll have to run for about 40 hours extra, which you really don't want to do. The moral of the story is simple - use pots! :)

    So there you have it!
I'm sorry it had to be in three different posts, it's just such a long and detailed guide.

From my guide, you should have learned nearly everything to do with agility and learned how to do all the courses effectively.

    Thankyou for reading! :D

Thankyou sir, I would have put pictures in yes, but i spent so long writing the guide, and if i may so myself, it is detailed enough not to need them.

    Thanks for the rating :)

Thankyou :), and yes, it's one of the longest skills in the game to reach 99, but i personally think it's worth it, and tbh, after the first say, 50 levels, it doesn't seem too slow because you're used to getting under 20k xp an hour and it's possible to get 40 - 45k p/h at wilderness course.

    Guide is so long XD
Anyway Sythe forums are not Runescape forums, you can use BB tags to make it easier to read your guide. Pictures would be good, too.

I think you have meant here "hp"...

wow, that's very much. Thieving is much slower XD

#2, #3, #5 posts have made it harder to read this guide.

Overall rating: 8.5 (as I said, you should add here bb tags and pictures)

Edit: changed rating from 8 to 8.5, because guide answers many questions :]

Wow, very in-depth. For those who don't know much about agility this guide is a great help. And for those who do, it still helps. Covers almost everything that you could want to know about agility, and more. Also, I enjoyed your characterized pictures of the agility arena. = 9/10 Good Job!

Insane guide, 9/10. You should get a mod to move the posts so all 3 of yours are in a row.
and maybe add colour to the titles and center. otherwise amazing job.

Thankyou Queen Katie, yes, suprisingly i only decided to add in the characterized pictures i had made nearly as i had finished the guide. I am glad they are proving worth it :).

To answer to jakemate, yes, i was thinking the same thing.
But who shall i ask, and can that actually be done ..?

Yeah the mods can do that, just ask a runescape mod, admin or global. since it looks ugly all spaced out like that, needs to be in three neat posts, eh. :p
