How to record sound/music with Audacity

Audacity is not a program you obtain by any means of illegality. It’s completely free and completely legal.

    Download links:
    http://www.download.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10058117.html?tag=mncol
    or
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I’d prefer to keep this guide short and sweet rather than going into pristine detail. If you’re interested in a program that’s easy to obtain, legal, and easy to record with or edit with, this is for you. I don’t take pics for the sake of having pics in a guide. If you want to do this correctly, you’ll have to do some reading.

    Tools you’ll need:
A microphone if you’re recording anything, or the necessary adapters/cables for instruments.

    The BASIC interface

You have your simple record, play, fast forward, rewind, and stop buttons. If you don’t know what those are, you shouldn’t be reading this guide, period.

    RECORDING:

Want to record? Press the red button. Want to stop? Press pause. Duh? Yes.

    IMPORTING audio/speaking/instrumental tracks:

    EFFECTS:

Once highlighted, click the effects tab at the top of your screen and click an effect. Once your effect is chosen, press ok. Don't do too much before you've listened to the effect. You'll want to make sure to press play and if it doesn't sound good, undo it with "ctrl + Z" or edit undo.

RECORDING is the easiest part. You hit the record button and press stop or pause when you want to halt it.

Be prepared for an ADVANCED Audacity guide in the near future. This is simly basic.

pretty decent guide, nice introducation to uncovering/downloading it.
I think you should have gone more in depth with this guide though.
What effects can we change, how do we do it?

Other then that this program seems like a nice try,
    keep working on the guides!
Nice layout, as well with pictures.
    Grammer/spelling is good.
Hopefully you will remain working on this guide, keep it up!

This guide is now complete but will be added upon regularly. It's a general and basic guide for all learns. Be prepared for an advanced guide in the near future

I'll say this is a pretty useless guide, you are basically giving a link to the program, you should include a more detailed explanation or how to use it. 3/10.

It's pretty good as far as the idea, but it's a little small. You could probably elaborate on some things as Matt said. But, if you're going to add to it regularly then I suppose it could become increasingly better with added content.
