    Afterlife/Heaven/Reincarnation.

I believe in an afterlife where we are in a darkened world, where the gods will never see us and sins are blessings.

I can tell a dream from reality. When I'm in the dream I can't, but once I wake up I realize that it didn't really happen. Like I said, you don't have to believe me, I'm just saying why I believe there is an afterlife.

But how do you know that life isn't all just a dream and when we die, we will wake up in another life.

Virtually the entirety of human experience testifies that books generally do not fly across rooms for no reason. Have you at least considered that you were hallucinating or something similar?

Even if you were not, how do you know that a ghost is what moved it? Perhaps you have a prankster who is skilled in telekinesis? Perhaps your neighbor rigged a spring of sorts behind the book? What specifically led you to believe that a ghost did it?

    Why do you believe that?

Some dreams are pretty realistic, you know.

I think that after death it is just like sleeping except without dreams. So I think it would probably just be pure blackness and nothing. I also don't think that would be too bad because you couldn't feel anything. It would just be like the way I was before I was born which is nothing. :)

I wouldn't really refer to your post as an intelligent one, there's no method to your madness.

I would like to believe there is some form of afterlife, but honestly, I'm not too sure. Much of the proclamations and writings within the bible lead me to believe this, not to mention outside sources. I don't think there's a place which is all glorious and we're all floating around on clouds in white robes. I think of heaven as somewhat of an eternal earth, however odd that sounds. It's quite hard to rationalize something which is far beyond our ray perception.

Reincarnation, no. I believe this form of "afterlife" doesn't exist. The idea of the actions which you carry out on earth effecting what you will be reincarnated into is foolish. I don't believe people come back as trees, animals, or anything within nature. Simply put, there's nothing which leads me to assume reincarnation is a possibility, merely a thought.

There is really no way to know... But part of me thinks that death is just like an endless sleep. You know how when you're asleep, you don't know you are (until after you wake up), but you are? I believe death is like that feeling, but forever.

No one is walking up there, were going to die and become nature, thats simply it. Do you have any evidence supporting gods existance other then a book created with a bunch of hoo-lah, and changed every two weeks?

I am a Catholic, and I believe in heaven. The Bible and everything just makes sense to me, and I have tried to open myself up to other sources and become as informed as possible about it.

Reincarnation would be awesome too, being able to live virtually forever as different things.

There has to be a afterlife, it is the only reasonable explanation for whats after death... There simply cannot be "darkness" as then... There would truly be no point in living and if that was the real truth.. i truly do not know what i would do.. I simply can not imagine a existence with no real purpose, no real aim, can you truly say you enjoy living knowing that when that fateful day comes there is nothing

Yes I can. How can you enjoy living thinking that every day you're alive is a day that would be better if you were dead?

How is life without real purpose or aim because it ends? Do you see your job as meaningless because you'll eventually be too old to work? Is it meaningless to have a fun night on the town because you'll just wake up with a headache the next morning? Is it meaningless to go on vacation because you're going back home after two weeks? Is it meaningless to eat because you'll be hungry again in a few hours? Nothing lasts forever, eventually you're back where you started, see my sig.

It is up to you to give your life meaning. Instead of following some predetermined model that is, let's face it, improbable at best, be creative and set your own goals. Have fun while it lasts.

Nothing happens when you die. Fact. A close friend of mine has an extremely serious heart condition and has been by definition dead 4 times. Nothing happens. He wakes up feeling as if no time has passed.

I personally think nothing happens if you pass away. I've heard countless stories of people seeing angels and what not when they are pronounced dead, then get zapped back to life. But, in my mind, I just think it's a dream. If there was heaven/hell, why can't anyone prove that there is? But, then again, how can we prove it's not there?
Well, in my mind, there is no life after death.

I'll just put this in: The set of morals and ideals that I have gained in this life have led me to conclude that the mere concept of an afterlife is torturous at best; when I die, I want to stay dead as I don't WANT to live forever, in either heaven OR hell, or any other kind of afterlife for that matter.

What a lot of people don't realise is that eternity is indeed a long time. From my point of view, to wish for eternal life is essentially the same as being a masochist.

Heaven and Hell... something that EVERYONE knows about but has no real true understanding of it. It is so simple to assume that once you die, its done. No afterlife where you actually RETAIN your thoughts and spirit. But there are so many out there afraid of dying and want to hold on to what they still have here on earth. IMO even though I am a church going guy and believe in god, I think the hardest thing about keeping to the faith is believing there IS a heaven and hell, and only those who believe in god will be granted access through the gates. But when i see an insect die, or see a dead animal on the side of the road, I dont think about whether it goes to heaven or not.

In my head I picture a battery, and once you drain the battery of all the energy, its useless. So what do you do? You throw it out, and thats that. Thats my perception of Life and Death

Honestly, I believe in heaven and hell BUT...
WHO CARES? If you spend your whole life wondering about what happens after it's finished you have problems.
It's like wondering what questions are asked in an exam instead of studying generally over the topics covered in the exam.
Have your opinion by all means, but don't wonder about it.
If you know what you believe, hold onto that, if you don't, then you shouldn't worry about it, it will happen eventually and you will find out, worrying will make you none the wiser.
