Either way I haven't really looked at a guy and thought that they were "hot".

The way you describe the situation it seems you are attracted to him. Or maybe you just have a different perspective on friendship.

 

Actually we don't subconsciously judge people, we relate a first-impression to past experiences. There isn't a universal code that we turn to to make a judgment.

A stimulus, in this case the person you are seeing is processed in the visual center of the brain, and then the images are relayed through the hypothalamus where virtually every memory in your brain is scanned at amazingly high speeds until you can relate what you see to some sort of past experiance.

Whatever experience is not disregarded by your brain as being useless is the ones that will form for first-impressions.

It just means you know when guys are good looking or not. More or less like a role model or the epitome of a perfect guy. Its the same reason girls look at magazines of beautiful girls. We all know who are handsome men and butt-ugly men. Just don't say they are hot, they gives the expression of homosexuality lol. Handsome is a more acceptable straight-term.

That'd just be a joke to annoy a girl though. She always gets a new bf if she finds a guy hotter than her current boyfriend. She gets extremely jealous if she sees someone with a more attractive boyfriend than hers. So if i went up to her pretending that he was my boyfriend then she'd be talking to me all like "omg, can you please give me his number or something?" and i can be like "no, fuck off and stop bothering me". And that is my idea of amusement.
