I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, if so i can't a reason for it being denied, so i'll suggest this.

I think we should allow thread makers, to delete other people's post in their own thread. Why? This will reduce the spam and postcount of spammers, and will give postcount more respect.

By allowing thread makers to delete spam in their own thread, the threadmaker can organsie the thread, by just leaving the posts that are worthy, e.g if someone says, i only accept PAYPAL, any other payment offerd will be considerd as spam and reported, now the person can say, Anything else offerd will cause your post to be deleted, so no more point in people spamming.

SO yeah this is just the basic concept, i'm sure there are a LOT of benefits to allowing this, reducing spam, faster trades no more wasting time on fake posts pretending to buy just to get postcount up etc.

    - Spidy99

Edit: Alternative, sub forum where we can post link plus # post and mod checks and does his work, then clears our post at that report spam thread.

Thats also an alternative, instead of you checking on our thread to see if spam was correctly marked spam, maybe a sub forum or something can be made, where everyone can post thread link, plus # of post, and then mods just check each and check, and once checked our message can also be cleared from your thread, so that we aswell don't get postcount everytime someone spams.

One major downfall, scammers can deliberately delete posts of people showing proof of them beings scammers and thus enabling them to scam anyone at will.

That's a terrible idea.. If someone gets accused of something it'll be deleted. Just report the posts.

If we allow owner thread deletion than we are giving normal members too much power. Lets say you're debating with another user and one gets angered with their points or their words, then the member easily can delete your posts. Also, sex°'s points could happen as well. The suggestion isn't worth the problems it would cause.

Or people could delete posts containing negatives of their suggestion.

You're suggesting the concept of community policing. We have mods, and if they and the users are mature and responsible about problems on the forums, they will be resolved.

Your duty as a user is to notify the moderators of problems. The moderators responsibility is to listen to users when in "distress", and police the forums on their own time. If the problem is too big for a moderator, it's then the moderators responsibility to report the incident to an administrator.

I see the positives of this, but I also see the negatives. If you could some how work this out so that it couldn't be majorly abused, I would fully support it.

For example, maybe instead of deleting the posts, they are just shrunk so that they are less noticeable and remove the post count from the poster.

Stupid idea, like said before, somebody will post on a scammers thread

bam the owner deletes it and he scams another person. Know if that person was lieing the owner simple reports the post and it gets deleted by a mod

Delete OTHER people's post in your OWN thread.

I knew some of the limits already, but i'm sure we can adjust.

E.g make this only in the Market Threads, so not for General debates arguments or any other sort, where people can delete post because of arguments.

Instead of delete completely, maybe a HIDE SPAM thing can be used, like on youtube, and if a person still wants to view that particular spam, he can by clicking on it. Spam like payment methods the person is not wanting can be hidden as spam.

This isn't too much power, if we do what i suggest above which is not delete completely but hide as spam. (maybe if a certain number of people also find this spam then it will be completely deleted, thats if we allow a mark as spam for everyone on the thread, that way the community judges if the thread maker was correct)

For the PostCount, either it stays if the moderators dont mind that they spammed, or certain mod(s) check the hide spam messages and decide wheter it was spam or not, if it was spam it will be deleted and the post count will be taken away from you current post count e.g 500 becomes 499. And maybe even a warning or an infraction. Or if the Mods don't think it was spam, they can take away the hide spam, (and maybe warn the thread maker, or after a number of wrongfully hidden spams, even infract him, this way thread makers won't abuse against people they hold grudges against)

I'm sure there are many ways, to make this work if we all try to suggest something rather the just find the flaws and not work on a improvement.

I highly doubt this will be changed for obvious reasons posted above. If any of you need posts deleted in your thread pm me and I can do it. I won't delete just anything but I will get rid of the spam.

Give me thread, and post #'s in the pm and they will be done as soon as I can do them.

    Why?

So you can delete your scam accusations?

No, lol. Reporting posts works most of the time.

Runescape Blows, your a typical example of someone who doesn't read all post, clearly more alternatives were suggest, like hide as spam, which doesn't delete completely.

I think Hide as Spam, or a thread to post our thread link plus # post, to allow a mod to check, once check our post also gets cleared from thats mod's thread, so we dont get postcount from everytime we report a spammer. (this isn't like report a scammer section, because firstly our post stays, and so does the spammers. Maybe report a spammer section can be imporved to, instead of just replying with Thanks, also delete the spam....
